Spot on. In order to play for Australia, a cricketer has to excel at various levels of cricket, through the grade system, then Sheffield Shield (the toughest sub-Test competition in the world) , before even getting selected. This means they have already proven themselves at a high standard of cricket before getting an Aussie spot. There is no such thing as a "dud" playing for Australia, only those who couldn't quite reach the ultimate standard once they got there. No shame in that. If it was easy, everyone would be playing there.
I think in order to gain perspective, and appreciation, a lot of posters on these forums should do themselves a favour and go out to Grade matches on the rare times these guys play and witness how superior they are at that level.
And to those who think some of us take the game too seriously, forums are not just about coming online and trying to me a comedian (and failing miserably), there are SOME people who actually enjoy balanced and informed conversation about the game ... and unfortunately there's nowhere you can go except forums like this.

I am sure these guys type their name into google and see all this stuff. Well, most would even if they pretend they ignore these forums.
Anyway, enough moralising. My contribution to the list of "luckiest Australian players" () is: Beau Casson.
Beau, if you read this, representing your State is something most of us only dream of

I think you'd just enjoy everyone telling you how right you are. You are the biggest cricket snob on here. Go start a 'balanced and informed discussion' thread.
Biggest dud in the squad at the moment: D Hussey.
Biggest dud ever: Dorey.

That would be fine, however the selectors are completely ignoring the fact that Marsh is a dud.
Here endeth the lesson. Surely we don't need to hand out caps to blokes 'because they are young'. David Hussey can come in AND play the next world cup. You don't need to plan two world cups ahead for the lottery that is one day cricket.
