When was the last time there was a test with 2 hundreds and a double hundred in ones day play.

Will Tahir ever play test cricket again.

Bannerman made 167* you're probaly thinking of Walters who made 165 on debut at Brisbane 88 years after Bannerman

Ambays dear oh dear oh me
The guys that I talked to about Bannermans epic 165* on debut told me this before Walters was born

PS
Bannerman didnt get to 167 * he had his finger broken By George Ulyett and retired hurt on 165

charles bannerman 165 on debut 1877

kd walters 155 on debut 1965

*slap*

back in my place...

I would've suggested Kepler Wessels 106 years later in Brisbane. Made 167 on debut against England. A Saffer batting for Australia.

In all seriousness we complain about choking in Australian sport from time to time..... How bigger disgrace is the culture and mental toughness of South African Cricket. Never in the history of World Sport has a team been given so many chances and not delivered..... They have always been in the top 3 in all forms of the game and never won anything of significance or been known as the clear best side in World cricket.. Even when they beat Australia here they then undone all their hard work @ home.

South Africans as much as they appear big, strong and arrogant they are weak as p*** when put under the pump in Cricket and often in other sporting fields.

These blokes rolled over today to let a side put on almost 6 runs an over for a whole day. We sent sides to the sub continent with Blocker Wilson as the front line bowler due to injuries in 96 and we didn't disgrace ourselves anywhere near like these blokes did today. Game won't last 4 days.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Haha, Spot on
Saffers have hearts the size of a shelled pea!!!
This is fantastic but we are not over the line yet, id suspect their batting will put up a far better effort than their piss weak bowling attack. Hopefully we bat for atleast 2 sessions today and mentally destroy them. With our scoring rate there is no reason we cant declare at 700+

U are making that assessment after 1 session u fool. Test Cricket can change just as quickly as shorter forms of the game

yeah i am making that assessment after witnessing Steyn not really offering a lot

Kallis - the wicket-taker is out injured and that will affect his batting

the captaincy now with the bowlers is just raffertys rules - just throw it to a bloke and he will bowl

both clarke and warner are now set, the pitch dries out and it will be a batters paradise

so yes perhaps im a fool but south africa can not win this game

well the aussies are home n hosed here

south africa not only the walking wounded - the essendon of test match cricket

they had no plans, no strategy, no attempt to take wickets, no attacking field to apply pressure

When will the aussies declare? I'm thinking no less that 750 if possible, would like enough to make the follow on hard to achieve and make them bat back to back otherwise this may well peter out to a draw, with the pitch not looking to offer much in the 1st few days..

IMO we will declare sooner rather than later. Would not surprise if we declared half hour before lunch

Losing Philanderer before the start would've hurt big time, Kallis was bowling well until he broke down & Steyn just added to their woes. Didn't help bowling on an absolute road either, BTW, I think this no runner rule is a joke, Chappelli's take on it was spot on.

Given their run rate so far you could be on the money, I'd be thinking 650 would be their aim, we tend to not like enforcing follow-ons anymore to give their bowlers a break.

No offense PG i know that you know your Footy and i know you can throw back the sherberts but there are several things wrong with your Statement...
1. No less than 750. We wish. Dale Steyn is the number one bowler in the world and Tahir is the 378th best spinner :D
2. Australia wont bowl twice in a row in Adelaide unless we absolutely skittled them and still had a 450 plus lead at the end of the first dig. Pup wont want his bowlers in the field in 30 plus degree heat for 3 days in a row.
3. This match wont be a draw if we bowl well as our run rate has meant we are 200 runs ahead already of where we would like to be.
4. If Clarke goes in the early overs we have cement head Siddle at 8 and we will be pushing wicket taking no-balls up hill to get to 600.
If he can get there i think we will have a crack at them at 650 (if we can get there) as much as id love to see 700. Im thinking the drinks break in the middle session Pup will call them in.

If Pup is there at lunch we will already have 600, he will have his 300 and the hour after lunch will be like happy hour at Stormys with a fist full of 100s

Other thing about enforcing the follow on if it happens is that the next test is only three days after this one.

There is absolutely no way we will enforce a follow on even if we are 500 ahead.
Why would you give away the advantage of bowling last? Plus of course looking after our bowlers

Great day for AUS but let's not forgot the pitch is the usual AO Road and with next couple of extremely hot days the Saffers are just as likely to be 5/450 odd at some stage tomorrow
