No doubt about that DW, some very interesting times ahead, we obviously have no spinners of any substance getting around at the minute, we are fortunate enough to have Brad Haddin to take over from Gilchrist, our pace attack is good without being overly dominate, Haydos may have one season left in him, very intersting comments by former test off spinner Rowdy Mallett in the media today where he says he thinks that Australia have very little to call on and could slip down as far as number 5 within two or three seasons

I don't think as far as 5, but they will slide. When Hayden goes, I think Australia will struggle, because Hayden sets the tone of the Australian batting innings and you can tell the difference from the WACA Test and The Adelaide Oval Test, but without Hayden, I don't have a clue who would open.

Shutters have been put up, 7 runs in the last 5 overs and 2 of them extras

India now crawling at 3/169

54 overs remaining today.

Now drinks, a while 27 runs scored that hour :(

Be great to see Gilly roll his arm over in his last test but it probably wont happen in case he gets a couple of wickets and shows Hogg right up

Hayden will still be there for another 2 years or so I'd say so we don't have to think about his replacement just yet. Between now and then anybody could put their hand up with some strong performances in the Shield.

We do have good keepers waiting in the wings, Haddin would be my replacement as he is a superb player.. very good batsmen who likes to attack like Gilly, as does Ronchi so we won't miss out too much there. We also have strong batsmen running around in the domestic comp, same goes for quicks.. it's the lack of a decent spin option that worries me.

Pup and Roy would be my picks though, go with another pace option and let those two lads roll their arms over. Of course it depends on the pitch, we may need a full time spinner.. I'm a fan of leggies and think they generally pose more of a threat so was hoping Cullen Bailey would continue his rise but that has stalled unfortunately.

would be loath to use Pup too much, rather see him concentrate on his batting fulltime (and slips catching  ) he is one you could use as a partnership breaker, he is basically newish to bowling where as Symonds has been combining the whole box and dice for a number of years, also have remember that they reckon Pup will be the next aussie Captain so thats even more responsibility, who knows how long Punter will be around, this reoccurring back injury worries me greatly :(

If anyone's listening to the ABC coverage Les, from Berri, who initiated the talk on Brad Hogg is an SAFooty member. The person who initially posed the question to Les is also an SAFooty member ;)

Hopefully we can find someone else for the slips, maybe Huss can go there. You are right about Pup being a partnership breaker (or match winner!), use him for that while giving Roy more responsibility. We would look more stable with a decent spinner though.

The back injury is a worry but I have a feeling he will keep going for a while yet.

Can't see it happening, not this time anyway.
India still have Harbajhan and Kumble and they both made 50s and Australia couldn't get them out last innings, so i don't think this innings will be any different.

Bit different this innings but I see your point, Kumble however has a badly strained side evidently and not that flash, on dear just look at it 4/191, one bloke dropped on 2 now 123*, could have made an absolute huge difference :(

Since India won't win this test, therefore losing the series, what do people
think they'll whinge and cry about?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.
