Blues vs. Backs

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Postby mal » Mon Oct 16, 2006 11:07 am

The Baby Blues with 7 players unavailable aquitted themselves
extremely well and shows the much vaunted depth of that state.

If they had a full compliment[like 1st game last year] imagine this team.

KATICH
JAQUES
CLARKE
THORNLEY
OBREIN
HADDIN
HENRIQUES
LEE
BRACKEN
MACGILL
MCGRATH

CLARK 12th man !!!!

Emegencies

BOLLINGER
HAURITZ
CASSEN

What a starting XI all bar Haddin + Jaques can bowl.
And look at the 12 th man, this guy is burning in the test arena!

Well done our boys. A great way to start the season, hard earned and wish I could've seen the celebrations. Listening to it on the radio was all we had but still good enough to have us on the edge of our seats.

It would be nice to have some of those close games go our way this year.

Number 1

HAURITZ costs NSW the game :?:

The turning point of this game was when HAURITZ took that sensational
catch at 3rd man to dismiss centurion ELLIOTT....allowing BORGAS to come
in and smash that excillerating 31 of 9 balls !

Bullshit. Take two wickets and a great catch and cost your team the match??? SA were the best team all day and Hauritz was one of the few bowlers who could hold their head high in a poor bowling performance.

Number 2

BORGAS man of the match :?:

All game every batsmen scored at about a run a ball from both sides.
ELLIOTs innings was a sheer gem to get so may runs so quickly.
BUT all was in vain until the BORGAS gem.

Nah. Borgas closed his eyes and jagged a few swipes on one of the smallest grounds in the contry with no real alternative and got the backs over the line. He didn't face the new ball, set the innings up and bat all the way through on one leg. Borgas was sensational for an over or two, Matty for many overs and a deserved man of the match IMO.

Number 3

NICHOLSON [32] BLEWETT[35] past thier use by date :?: too early to tell
as both have the ability to improve immensely, but it was sad to see two
wonderful former Australian cricketers struggling today.

Maybe. Remember it is the first match of the season. You've played a lot of cricket mal. Would you write off an experienced cricketer after just one day match into the new season??

Number 4

Even though we did eventually win it only masked the error in not having
LEHMANN batting higher :?:

Agreed. But he got away with it.

What do the experts think :?:

I reckon you were being controversial for the sake of being controversial mally.

REB, your right I was full of beans trying to get some chatter going.
Agree with your views.
except
HAURITZ
He played a great game for a spinner on a small ground and held
that great catch, I was just saying he might of cost NSW a win by actually
catching out Elliott which allowed Borgas to come in and provide the fireworks.

Yes REB I often struggled 1st game of the year myself[except one game vrs WYC]

Yeah I was a bit cynical + moderately controversial, just trying to drum up some chatter mate.

Nicholson is a very handy type surely. I know its county cricket, but he smashed a ton batting at number 9 this season and bowls decent pace. Get out the armchair lads!!

I was the other way round Mally. I'd get runs in the first couple of matches and then get bugger all for the rest of the season LOL. Never used to make runs against Woodville either, I was Dave Mellis' bunny because I'd always try and smash him through legside. DOH.
