I'd say there are a couple too many teams in WA mal.
They brought in Rockingham/Mandurah and Joondalup in the last few years which probably diluted the quality of the competition a tad.
Our Grade system hasn't been able to produce good fast bowlers for a long time. Consequently we've resorted to quite a few imported bowlers e.g. Magoffin (QLD), Edmondson (QLD), Brad Williams (Vic), Stuart Karpinnen (ACT) and Matthew Innes (Vic) who is playing for Bayswater/Morley and not doing anything sensational.
Far cry from 15-20 yrs ago when we produced the likes of Chris Matthews, Ken MacLeay, Jo Angel, Bruce Reid and Brendan Julian who all represented Australia in either Test or one-day cricket. You can also throw in Alan Mullally and Martin McCague who played Test cricket for England.

There is some relevance AH
They have 16 teams with a similar population base and have perhaps underachieved
in recent times as well as SA
Just comparing notes AH

Have to Disagree there AH the One day comp has been expanded to 11 games if you make the final which is almost an entire season played on Sundays. So the weeks that you dont bat in the 2 dayers, you should be getting a hit in the OD games. That should be enough to keep the form up for Pura Cup selection and if the selectors have any brains consider it for either first class side
