First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

I reckon the Yanks are onto something here!

Postby Snaggletooth Tiger » Thu Jan 04, 2007 8:36 am

Listening to Li'l Johnny Howard in the Channel 9 Commentary Box during the Sydney Test got me thinking.
Over in Septic Land the President throws out the first pitch of the U.S. Baseball Season...
So how's about our Head of State bowling the first delivery for the Summer of Cricket?

Hearing the self confessed 'Cricket Tragic' blathering onto Tubby about his younger days as a leg spinner
(The only thing he spins is the truth!)
I thought "Why not?"
Remembering that hilarious totally uncoordinated attempt over in Pakistan, Kashmir or wherever,
I believe it would be pure comedy Gold!
Specially in a packed Stadium full of drunken yobs... Ya can't get more Australian than that!

On those lines, maybe he can also do the first bounce of the AFL Season.
or first kickoff for his beloved St. George in the NRL.
...Notice how I didn't add Illawarra? (That's coz it's working class Woolongong! )

Just a thought... Maybe he won't be P.M. by next Cricket Season eh!
GO THE GROWL!!!

That's fine in the land of Seppo's, but politics and sport should never be mixed.

There's a very funny passage in 'The Latham Diaries' where Biff Latham rips into Honest John over his distinct lack of cricket ability, on show for all to see during a pollies match in Canberra...

That's fine in the land of Seppo's, but politics and sport should never be mixed.

Don't buy this over-simplistic notion either...

The Head Of State isn't the PM, but it is the Queen.
Have you seen the PM play, he's crap.
The Pres of the US and bowl and bat better then him.
