Best of luck to Eastern Park on saturday. Thay have had a great year and they definitly have the team to go all the way. we played them last year in the prelim and it was a good hard contest. who gives a sh*t about there oval and there changerooms. they have got a team who comes out every week and has a crack and they r doing a bloody good job at it!!

Blacks, if you think that some of your players are playing for the love of their mates, I think you must be delusional. Are they getting cash money, probably not, extend your thinking and imagine what your club could provide to these top end players to entice them to your club. Uni is a proud amateur league club and would not be happy with last couple of years in Div 2 instead of challenging for a Div 1 premiership. It required some action and obviously your administration had the tools required to entice some damn good players to your club, so as FS tried to say, well done and good luck, your club deserves the climb after the year they have had.
I know what the enticement is, I just want to know what peple like you and FS think it is. Your suggestions of what they are a little ambiguous but probably best reflect your understanding of what goes on outside of your own club.

So FS and myself go from congratulating your club and what you have done this year to receiving a sermon from FINN on what you possibily might be offering some of your players. Let me say that if the players playing wanted big remuneration they would be in the country leagues, not SAAFL. So what do we have left as FINN so elaborately explained, employment, networking, accomodation - pretty much sums up what I was thinking. Probably the two jugs that swayed them though. I can see FS, getting the cartons out for next years recruiting campaign. I now officially withdraw the praise for your club that I posted and now hope that you go out in straight sets.
Oh, and let me guess you are studying politics, if we say it is black, you sure as h... will say it is white.

I'm sorry that the expanation sounded like I was pontificating as it was not meant to be at all. Personally, I took no offence at all to FS's comments and thought they were pretty level - I wished to respond in the same manner without getting involved in any petty squabbling.

Cartons on a recruiting campaign is possibly a stroke of genius.

Back to the finals; good luck to all involved, obviously not enough luck that you beat the Blacks but a sizable dollop nonetheless.

How are Walkerville looking at the moment?
Obviously making the 5 after just coming up is a huge task and they have done that
but is it a very different side to last season or have they just put in a huge pre season and got a few new blokes?
personally on last years sides, thought St peters were a much better side then Walkerville.

I think the difference between Walkerville and St Peters is the depth. If you look at the reserves ladder, Walkerville has won 15 games compared to SPOCS 5...says a bit.

Just a quick reflection on how tight Div 2 has been this year aswell, these are all the games won by 6 points or less.

Rd 2 Athelstone def Modbury 98 - 96
Rd 3 Walkerville def Modbury 95 - 93
Rd 4 Flinders def Walkerville 76 - 72
Rd 6 St Peters def Eastern Park 99 - 93
Rd 10 Uni def Rostrevor 62 - 60
Rd 11 Athelstone def Modbury 43 - 41
Rd 11 PHOS def Walkerville 79 - 75
Rd 13 Eastern Park def Modbury 123 - 120
Rd 13 St Peters def Pembroke 82 - 76
Rd 15 Uni def Athelstone 74 - 73
Rd 15 Walkerville def Rostrevor 95 - 89
Rd 16 Rostrevor def Flinders 80 - 74
Rd 17 Uni def Modbury 105 - 99

So that's 13 games decided by under a kick compared to 9 in Div 1 and 7 in Div 3. A relatively useless stat but it looks like Modbury were pretty unlucky not to play finals.

good to look at though
we had a similar problem last year in div 3
lost a fair few games but under a kick, win a few of them and we may have been playing finals
they included both games against walkerville losing by 1 and 3 pts.

Finn, not sure anyone took offence at your comments , I think it was Blacks input that FS and myself took as a @we are a lot better than u@ comment. Might be the case, but I think bottom line was FS and myself were trying nton provide a rational comment on how we thought nthe season would pan out. Shouldn you progress to Div 1 netxt year, this forum will be nfull of how mch and how can they afford, etc. etc. Bottom line is good clubs, whatever they put in place must be sustainable, otherwise itn isn a brief visit to a higher division and then pay the penalty for years to come. Modbry back in middle 90's isperfect example, however they have obviously learnt the lesson and now look forward to some decent nyears in higher divisions. Obviously PNU did the same this year, not banking everything for 1 year in Div 1. Perhaps nyou can answer will Uni pay the SAAFL to play a home final on Sat week.

Good post, massive amount of close games in the Div and you could say we were unlucky but we didn’t kick straight in many of the games we lost. We lost to Athelstone twice by under a kick FFS also lost to EP twice when they were below us on the ladder. Had chances to beat UNi in the second to last round and missed a shot after the siren to beat walkies..... Unfortunately we had a year of what if's and definitely one to forget, that’s footy!

Phos too good at camden oval today, running over the top of EP in the last quarter. EP looked up and running in the 3rd quarter but PHOS mainly Rowe, took advantage of the scoring end massively in the last.

On a side note cannot believe the league let a final be played on an oval in that sort of condition, i know there was a lot of rainfall this week but surely there would have been a better option for a better spectacle??

Wah wah wah, we've just had the wettest season for about 8 years - if you can find another oval that isn't trashed, then good luck to you. Footy is a winter sport, remember?

I suppose SANFL shouldn't schedule games at Richmond oval either. Winter = rain = mud

Cane Reserve is a picture, very little footy, have had my Juniors out there training, very little mud, a little soft under foot but apart from that a great surface

Reflective of how much footy has been played there in the last few months. All the SAAFL needed was 12 grounds with clubs that have wound up and it would've been OK ;) ;)

Adelaide University 09.11 65 v PHOS Camden 06.17 53
PHOS Camden 09.18 72 v Adelaide University 08.06 54

Eastern Park 13.16 94 v Rostrevor OC 06.15 51
Rostrevor OC 21.14 140 v Eastern Park 12.05 77

With wins going to the home team in all occasions, anyone willing to suggest differently next week?

When the final was confirmed at Camden it hadn't rained yet. Similarly when we played at Eastern park last year it didn't rain till the day and from memory the oval was crap. Lifes like that.
