We had two good games against Black Friars, winning one by about 10 points from memory and losing round 1 by a point, so its fair to say that both teams are very similar. At the end of the day Havens finished above Blacks but Blacks had a better percentage
No offence mate but you guys didn't match up well against us on either occasion, so it's a bit hard for me to judge your team. You obviously played some good footy throughout the year to finish above them.
It was the beauty of div. 5 this season, it would be hard to judge a list from strongest team to weakest as different teams matched up better to different opponents.
The one thing I would pencil in is that Hectorville were the best team for the season and they deservedly won the flag.

Blackfriars were as good as any other team I seen this season, their ladder position didn't warrant their talent pool IMO, they lost a lot of their games by narrow margins.
very true LM. could of been in the finals but had the worse luck with close results. something like 8 or 9 games under 4 goals, im sure sprint can confirm that. hopefully they can bounce straight back up

Think it's fair to assume a top div 6 side would go down by 40+ goals to a top div 1 side. So that tells you pretty much you have to consistantly improve your footy brand by 7 goals as you go up each division (To be the measuring stick).
Well im not going to argue with someone who played on it, i could only judge it by the way it looked from the sidelines and from standing on the grand stand side wing between quarters, so im in no position to give a full ground report.
From my obviously biased viewpoint I would say that North Haven and Black Friars would be even money against either Lockleys or West Croydon

My opinion is just that, my opinion. And im clearly not objective on this topic.
But if a hypothetical game were to take place I would think it would be pretty close, West Croydons strenghts were their ruckman, their full forward and a handful of onballers that move pretty well. Its hard to compare flank and pocket postions, but in the key positions I believe North Haven have a better full forward in Forrest and better Ruckman in Eagles, Havens on ballers would not be as quick as West Croydons but some of them would definitely use the ball better.
Would be a good trial game for both temas to get an idea of what each will be coming up against next year, if anyone wants to organise it.......
This is taking nothing away from West Croydon who are now deserving premiers whilst North Haven were relegated.

If there was prize money players would be more willing to make themselves available opposed to trial games.
I for one am not a fan of trials, sometimes they do more harm than good, our best player got injured in one this season and missed 9 proper games despite him not playing trials for the past few seasons.
They can also change prospective players' minds if you get thumped, even if you are under-manned.

All the good players get sent to Glenelg, and then if they don't make it or are fringe players they send them to SHOCs coz they are a division one club, and not back to us because we're divvy 5. and before shocs they were sending them all to phos. It is really upsetting that a league club shows so much contempt for one of the clubs that feed it with copious ammounts of players, and should be looked into, because it cannot be good for grass roots.
Being a Sports & Recreation Club works, as long as an impartial president presides over things. The last thing you need is a pres with the blinkers on. Years ago at Plympton the only club that suffered from the pooling of funds were the cricket club a fair way back, they had a pretty large account, and cricket has bugger all overheads, and that pool of money got wiped out due to reckless spending on football players.
Player wise community/recreation/social affiliated clubs should wax off each other, gaining players from each other so that can't be bad surely!
North Haven have had the exact same problem Jabber, Port Adelaide send our players that don't make it at U/18 or Reserve level to other clubs, primarily to Port Districts. Often with the promise that they will monitor them more at these clubs, only for the players to never hear from them again. Another common trend from Port Adelaide is to farm players out from smaller clubs in their own area to clubs where past players are coaching in other areas such as Gepps Cross Seaton and even Gaza. It is a disappointing attitude from a club that seems to have lost its way and is apparently oblivious to the fact that the feeder clubs in its own area are declining in both numbers and strength.

indeed mighty, you prompted me to look at our stats. put simply it was 10 games lost by under 4 goals.
many opportunities missed this year, in the end not good enough to get enough wins to finish anywhere else.
strangely we were very consistent. there were 2 losses between 24 points and 50 points and 4 losses north of 50 points.
nonetheless, planning under way for 2011 to ensure BOS continues to develop as a club and be a respected and competitive opponent in any division.
will you be back in 2011??
