SAAFL _ LOCAL AREA DIVISIONS. We've got too much travelling

FELCH , The reason the SFL is lopsided is because there is only two div. ( plus reserves ) this is not a problem for SAAFL . The up side to the SFL is the crowd their top clashes get and that is because they are relatively close . THE LOCAL DEBRY"S . That is what we've lost and (personally I miss..). And how could there be a better thing for SAAFL footy than to have a Adelaide Champion Club , for all clubs to aspire to . More crowd , more money for clubs , more local rivalries , its all good ...!

Sounds good Bagman i to miss the old rivalries which use to occur,the local debrys were great and held pn sundays.As u said i think the biggest crowd ive seen at a local game was Reynella vs Morphies on a sunday and u could move the sfl have always had big crowds,its just uneven comp cos the best 3 clubs dominate each year due to the fact they **** go up grades.But i too agree id hate to travel to angle vale just to have a kick and a catch for abit of fun

Maybe Flinders are just upset that their A grade is in Div 7 now and not C5 like last year which was a joke....

That would not work with 4 locations. As I have stated on here and also written a letter to the messenger it would need the SFL to ammalgimate with the SAAFL and you would have North Div 1-5 (A's and B's) and South 1-5 (A's and B's). each division would consist of 8 team comps with 18 minor round games and a top 4 system (With the GF teams going up and the bottom 2 going down) and the gf winners playing the div north v south 'super final'. This will not happen any time soon but I would not rule it out in the next 15 years esp. if numbers keep going down.
I honestly beleive this will do wonders for footy in Adelaide metro. the div 1 South i had (And all egotists don't go boonta,this is a guide Morphett Vale, Reynella, Brighton, Adelaide Uni, Edwardstown,Scotch,SHOC and Cove.)

Div 2: -
Div 3: Salisbury, Salisbury West, Eastern Park
Div 4: -
Div 5: Elizabeth, Smithfield, Central United
Div 6: Brahma Lodge
Div 7: Angle Vale, Paralowie
C2: North Pines

Not exactly the most even comp. My point simply is, having location-based competitions is going to cause the gaps between the higher and lower clubs to increase. Ask the SFL how they're 60-goal drubbings are going.

Paralowie appeared and disappeared over time, Pag and Angle Vale and North Pines never competed in the CDFA/NMFL. But your point is well made - not even Salisbury North would be interested in that comp and they'd be winning every flag up for grabs.

Yeah I knew that about Angle Vale & North Pines, I sorta combined the old CDFA and the CDJFL to simply reinforce my point...

And you're right, Salisbury North probably wouldn't want that competition back either. Although they haven't won an A Grade premiership since 1989, so maybe they would... (had to get that shot in)

And to whoever said they want to see an 'Metro Adelaide Champion', we already have one. They're the A1 Premiers...

Yeah they would maybe the last 2, the 1st 3 would take care of them easily i think, Fitzroy forget they have to play away games at times, their oval is litterally a dump but they play it well, but thats only 9 times a year, 9 wins rearely gets you a finals berth.
