My gut feel is it'll be quite unbalanced comp - the top 3 sides will be a fair way clear of the middle group who will be a country mile ahead of the bottom 3.

You don't have any mates.

Don't think so - only really Ingall, Sauerwald and Wootton - more gut feeling lol. They haven't appeared (yet) to top up players, and given they were looking for a B grade coach only a couple weeks ago would be a little unsettling.
Don't really know much about their B grade either, don't know what the depth is like there?
Guess I think may not be a matter of them losing players being the difference, but most of the other sides being quite aggressive in their recruiting or already boasting very strong squads through grades.

They were in div 3 about 4 year ago i reckon, going by the clearances they have been very busy,Woodville south also with some big signings and ive heard sumner is staying even no a clearance has been lodged.
Then you have Pulteney who have gone on a recruiting rampage with some big signings, lockleys have strengthen up what was already a candidate.
Us guys, have got a couple coming back home also still a clearance or two to be lodged still.
So we are in for a interesting division 5 for 2018.

He was by far the best player in the competition that year too.
From memory CBC spent the next few years in a weird phase of winning Reserves/C Grade Flags but A Grade wooden spoons.

Their depth wasn't that strong last season in D4R. Finished sixth and were very much middle of the pack, belted by the teams above them but able to beat the bottom teams.
