think you are off the mark phantom, IF started the year very well one stage after 8 rounds they were playing BOS for a spot in the 5 and pushed them all the way, up to say 3 weeks ago they had been in most games at 3/4 time. chck out theere score in thee first 12 rounds. they were hurt by a lack of fitness and on field leaders. have a look at there % its not too bad. now in saying all that the last month they have gone backwards, there has been off and on field lack of discipline problems. if they had kept there heads they would be stayn in div6

To get promoted you must play in a GF (Not easy to do). It's easier to get relegated by finishing in the bottom 2,so to stay in Div6 was a good choice,as we all know to play in a GF doesnt come around to often. Would agree with Bulldogs if the Farmers had won a couple of close one's they couldv'e been in the mix! The word is IF. ;)

Seems some clubs' reputations more than precede themselves. Not content with punching players, our opposition decided to punch holes in our changeroom walls

Great win by TOS on saturday. We got off to a flyer kicking 7.5 to 3 goals in first term. Of the 5 we missed 3 were sitters. Glenunga pegged back 1 or 2 in the 2nd quarter and then in the 3rd they smashed us drawing level at 3 quarter time with their tails up. We just managed to find something in the last quarter with inside 50's 19-4 in our favour. We really should have won by more as we absolutely dominated the last quarter just couldn't put it through the big sticks often enough but we'll take the win for sure. Bourkey seemed to have the problem of where to play S.Buss and Roberts as they provided good options up forward when they were there but spent most of the 2nd half in the middle together to try and get some clearances.

We still have a fight on our hands to keep our position in the 5 with Adelaide Uni, Central, Col Light and Houghton all fighting for the last 2 positions. We have to play Col Light and Houghton the next 2 weeks which will go a long way to separating these 5 teams.

some thoughts on 4th and 5th positions. rd 17 critical for all 4 clubs with Uni v United and Trinity v Houghton

trinity - colonel light (home), houghton (home), kenilworth (away) - prediction: 10 wins (colonel light, houghton) - favourable draw

united - henley (away), uni (away), ingle farm (home) - prediction: 9.5 wins (henley, ingle farm)

uni - glenunga (away), united (home), henley (away) - 9 wins (united, henley)

houghton - k'worth (home), trinity (away), colonel light (home) - prediction 8 wins (colonel light)

rekon you're spot on sprint, trinity and united to round out the 5, great effort by uni as a c grade side in div 6 this year and to houghton as well, who were looking almost relegation bound at one point but have had a very stong second half of the year.

real struggle on saturday with IF and CLG going goal for goal most of the day till the lions finally broke away..much respect to IF who are a massive improver from rd 1 last year..congrats to payney for that..game was hard but played fairly all day by both teams..just a few points on IF which they maybe interested in hearing from an outsider..when tremanin was tagged i would have played him at FF and made it a one on one contest up there..malbunka and smart are just not up to A grade and there lack of possesion really hurt IF..maybe #18 could have drifted up there or anyone else who can at least run..the ruckman #11 is very good..bottle him but you need to find a back up for him..he cant ruck all day..sanderock #5 has a great leap on him but someone has to show him how to kick..its very ugly and his brother #1 goes ok to..rigney #19 is quick and skilfull....the midfielders have improved and there is more pace around the edges than there used to be, #35 went hard at it..i think its a group you can build on and get some real success in div 7 if thats where you end up..hang in there dogs..i can see the light for you guys..

Thanks Z. Mission impossible on teaching him how to kick.

Saturday was like so many other games this year. Farmers were 2 points down early in last qtr, but CLG kicked the last 4. Not sure if it is a lack of fitness or a lack of self believe, but they have let a number of games slip in the last quarter. A couple of those lads you mentioned are still U16s, so I would like to think they will be playing at an SANFL club (U18s) next year. Having two big plokes in the forward line can be a problem and you guys exploited this with run out of defence.

I think you are a little harsh saying Malbunka is not up to A Grade. He has kicked 50 goals this year in about 12 games. Fair call on Smart though.

thanks senor..a bit harsh i guess but fat full forwards dont make it in A grade imo..hes kicked 50 in 12 games as you say but how many more would a fitter, harder working forward have got? :) the 3 goals he got against us were absolute gimmes and the 3rd one he had 4 attempts at picking the ball up with no pressure on..i am looking to the future and this year he has given you a target so alls good..but for long term he isnt the man to build on..if some of those guys are u/16s then thats a great sign..we knew about 6 were juniors so i think payne is doing the right thing..frees were 31-22 IFFC way fwiw :P

As second and third are now even between Glenunga & BOS, Any thoughts on how 2nd and 3rd will play out?

I think it will all come down to the Round 18 clash as both teams *should* win their next two game.

certainly creates an interesting 3 weeks and then an even more interesting QF in week 1. not often teams play each other in rd 18 and then the first week of finals. maybe a gentlemans agreement to have rd 18 off and see each other the following week :)
however, kenilworth could drop all 3 and that would throw the cat amongst the pigeons. i heard they were a little concerned with the number of outs they had on saturday.
my tip is a bos win in rd 18 to take second spot and the option to host at home or at a neutral venue.

Sprint, I thought the club was unable to host finals due to facilities? Has this changed now the oval has improved?

what's wrong with the facilities - an oval with grass, goal and point posts at each end, change rooms, showers, canteen, what more is needed.
previous management refused to part with the $1,000 hosting fee which is outrageous. hopefully that will be part of the 3 month review being undertaken at thebarton.

not to be a know it all but it actually happened to us and kenilworth last year, played each other in round 18 with kenilworth getting the points at home by about 7 goals from memory and then exactly 7 days later at the same ground CLG got over the line by around 4 goals. i agree though, wouldnt happen very often
