GWW wrote:No, no actual talk, Ryder Courtney, sorry my last post may have been misleading. I just meant that gradually changes may be made to the competition and the local communities may not be able to sustain a football club. But I meant in 5 or 10, or 15 years time. I think I read on the Mallee thread though that Murrayville is thinking of joining a neighbouring Victorian League next year.
Big Fulla wrote:Good point GWW. A league needs to viable, finals footy is a draw card, gets people through the gates. To diminish that by making it a top 4 would be a very poor move. Expansion back towards a 10 club league is inevitable for the RMFL with the growth of Murray Bridge and the potential of admitting a top or amalgamated MFL team.

Langhorne Creek joining the RMFL, if it was to ever happen, would be great though.

Big Fulla wrote:Slug, do you actually know what goes on in the RMFL? Your posts are quite off the mark. If you knew anyone within the RMFL Executive and Committee you'd know their position on joining other leagues. Not gonna happen. Growth of the RMFL will happen, in the meantime the 'firming up' of the current environment will continue to happen.

Won't happen. The Creek (i assume) are happy & are in a very good comp.

Thats a fantastic concept Big Fulla, the TBFC has been very lucky with indigenous players over the years. Will be interesting to see some of the names listed, I imagine it will include Don Tschuna, Kev Krop Snr, Muffy, Roger Wilson, Noel Hartman, plus a heap more.

This is a very powerful league and there were at least 5 State country players in their team. Very few leagues besides Great Southern would get closer to Southern than the margin they defeated the RMFL by. Calling us a Mickey Mouse League is simply inaccurate.
