You would be referring to Scotty saying after standing Dom all day 'I thought Tom would be a little better than that'. That's just reflective of the way Scotty is, he honestly didn't know who was who and really doesn't care for the hoo ha (not you Jon Whillas!!). Scotty didn't care, but obviously some with ego's did!!
Can tell you that Dom or Tom would nat have given a rats ar#e about those comments, and no one had a problem with Scotty saying that..good kid who has a go. Many at the club thought it was tacky tham zuma felt he needed to include it in his after match speech given that so many wayback players had stayed on...then again tact and zuma have never been close.

On more important matters, congrats to Rangers for their win yesterday. Was fully deserved and they can now put their feet up for a fortnight while we steel ourselves to do battle with a confident mallee park outfit. Tough match in windy conditions, but Rangers just had a few too many tricks for an underdone demon outfit.
Both defences did a great job in helpful conditions, and zuma was able to rotate his talls up fwd in the second half causing some obvious mismatches with the absence of Moore. He conjured a couple of goals this way, and in the end that was the difference. We were all hoping that Gregory might be slipped forward in the last quarter to try and do the same, but was anchored loose in defence stemming the tide.
Thought our forward structure was a lot better than in previous weeks, but could not understand how Rangers were able to drop Cup Cakes Parker in the hole between FF & CHF for almost the entire 2nd & 4th qtrs without being manned up. At one stage we had the three key forwards playing out of the square, and BW and Parker were standing on their own in the hot spot. If parker didn't take 10 marks in the area then he didn't play. We were obviously trying to give Dom and Corey space, but allowed Rangers to soak up that space.
Noddy Tyler was tremendous on Murphy, and played the way you have to on him. Just attack the footy Noddy..well done.
IMO Rangers clearly won the clearances on the back of some magnificent ruck work from BW. Minya and Horgs were tremendous around the ground. Harders did a good job on Hull, but the old fella got some important touches in the last qtr.

I was hung over to the max, so there is a fair chance that none of the above happened as I have described it. Additionally given the lack of concentration that comes with extreme hang overs I am a bit hazy on Best Players but will have a go:
Rangers: Cup Cakes Parker, Tiger Watherston and three or four others.
Demons: Gregory, Horgan, Matt G,Tyrone Craig, Noddy and Meatballs Harders.

footnote- does anyone still think that umpire X favors his son and/or his sons team when he umpires?

Went down to watch the Port Lincoln A grade match between Rangers and Waybacks, good game to watch. Very good defensive skills from both sides but think Waybacks would’ve had the better of marble range if they delivered to there leading forwards better!!
Was looking for Tommy George out there but seen someone else for Waybacks wearing the number 2 guernsey..Anyone know why and whom that may be??

Spot on with your summary Bluesy. I too couldn't work out why Waybacks had a loose man in defence going with the wind in the last quarter 11 points down!!

Full credit to Marble Range. Too good. All 12 defenders on the ground won their positions despite some forwards for both teams appearing dangerous at different times. Both teams used a loose man in defence. Always raises the question of whether this should be combatted by manning up on the loose man, thus playing a 7 man forward line. The other option is for a forward to stand alongside the loose man. Either way, it congests your forward line.

Why not put a couple more behind the ball and make it that you can only kick the ball off the ground and not touch it..... Oh hang on....

Surely if a forward goes and stands along side the loose man one of two things is likely to happen. 1) That loose man is no longer loose and may move out of the immediate area 2) The loose man suddenly becomes a backman thus having to pay some respect to an opponent.

Personally we preferred option C which involved Bilney standing 5 meters behind the said loose player and running straight thru him at the earliest in play opportunity.

surley if the forward manned up on the lose man there for creating a 2 on 1 situation one of the defenders would be smart enough to run off the forward still creating a lose man. OL bout time you put on the boots!

Rangers have continued their run of at least making the GF every second year since 95.

The B's have had an even better record winning 95,96,97, lost 98, won 2000,2001,2002 but have recently been the bridesmaids losing 2003, 2004 & 2005 GF's. Hopefully we are due in 2006 but the Peckers are looking ominous.....
