A Saturday review from 'A Mum's' perspective..... well mostly of the conditions really.... I'll leave the technical stuff for others
This weekend we ventured to Myponga. On leaving home we had a cloudy day but with the sun trying to find its way through.
The Junior Colt game went along fine, our boys won and the weather was not too bad.... then it struck us and we soon learnt why we were now in the land of the 'mudlarks' !! ... A big dark cloud descended upon Myponga filled with heavy rain and hail. This was the start of the nice green oval turning into brown mud.
Myponga's senior colts were just too good for us.... the wet weather suited them down to the ground. Really funny seeing the Myponga senior colt boys 'puddle diving' and 'belly surfing' in the puddles after the game (That's how big they were!!)... classic.
B grade started and so did the hail... the netball girls had their lights on, but we did not need lights on the oval as there was enough light beaming from the umpires hat (Nice hat Shaune)

.....the junior boys doing the boundary umpiring now shaking, wet and freezing cold were wondering why they had put their hands up to do this job...but got through with the knowledge that they were doing the right thing for their club. At one point when Myponga were kicking in from a missed goal the McLaren's boys were yelling "build the wall, build the wall"... and one spectator was heard to yell out... "Yeah.. build a wall with the mud"

.
I didn't see the A grade and even though we lost I heard that we put up a good effort in terrible weather conditions with more hail....and how they were almost unrecognisable with the muddy conditions, that even their numbers couldn't be recognised. I actually can't ever remember seeing such muddy conditions before... but as they say the farmers need the rain... so let it rain!
Overall I think the day was played in really good spirits by both teams.... both teams out there to play football although in trying conditions, no fights or antaginising just good old country footy !! That's what we like to see (well us mums anyway)

Just wondering though.... does anyone know the reason for chopping down all those nice big trees??
