Heathy played alot of Junior and 1 season of seniors at Port Noarlunga Ports cleared him without any hitches so I cannot see any problems with that saga going on. He has given good service for 4 seasons I agree a good pick up will fit in well with Porties structure.

Couldnt agree more. Unfortunately when you sign something they can hold you to it. I beleive if someone doesnt want to play for you let them go regardless. One person imparticular will make things difficult.

Surely if he has committed to Myponga through a contract he has to see it through doesn't he? Unless there are some issues that everyone does not know about and they would want to be good reasons. Whatever happened to a man's word or the good old fashioned handshake, that all went out the window, so they brought in written contracts and now that means nothing. If you say something do it!

A good example of this, or perhaps a precedent, was when Daniele from Kangarilla committed to a 2 year contract but decided he wanted out after just one year. With the contract signed he was forced by Kangarilla to either play for them or sit the year out! Im pretty sure he ended up having a year off. The Heath situation sounds very similar, but why would you want to keep a bloke at your club who doesnt have the passion to play for the team? Letting him go would be best for both parties.

Specky I believe a similar thing happened with us and Troy Bond when he wanted to break his contract at the Saints. He had 2 options. Play or sit out the year. I think some money was exchanged and he was released from his contract. I dont think guys understand that the footy contracts they sign are actually official legal documents.

Simple, dont sign a 2 year deal, make it an option in the contract where if a player stays on for the 2nd year they get an incentive or something like that. I understand clubs not wanting to bring in a guy for 1 year but as a player i wouldnt sign more than a 1 year deal due to this sort of situation arising where you want to move on and cant because of contractual obligations.

Especially in the Myponga situation where these players were signed before Deacon was replaced they wouldve been staying partly due to who was coaching, i know the boys liked him. Situations and circumstances change so committing to more than 1 year seems odd to me.

Lets be honest, its not Pro football and clubs need to be just as diligent in WHO they recruit to make sure they are getting the right guys. Money hungry players are not the answer!!! The answer is in the person and usually a good club can hold these good people unless circumstances arise. If a player wants to leave then let him go, if u leave on good terms then the player is a lot higher chance to return than if the bridge is burnt by not clearing etc.

Luvsfooty- Great call! And you to BJ. A lot of guys dont realize what they are doing when they sighn contracts. Perhaps there is a responsibility on the club to make sure the player knows what he is promising. But the player must also be vigilant and never sighn unless they agree and understand the terms and conditions!

FM you continue to go on about Bayliss leaving Enc Bay i dont think he owed your club anything after all he played good footy at your club and was paid to do so and jervois seen a chance to pounce , just like your club did when they recruited him there, i think you should move on and get with the times that players come and go just like Wes . I bet you had no hesitation in chasing his signiture and i am sure he is not playing at the Bay because you are all nice blokes, if he is then your club has been telling him porky pies as there is a s_ _t load of people that he probably should of spoken to first.

It is absolutely ironic Encounter Bay having a whinge about paying fotballers! Thier side last year was chocful of players no one had seen before and they didn't all come down for the love of the club. Move on and deal with 08.
