So the govt provides the Bluds with grants, that would explain it

However when you have as many as Jervois, the %'s are easier.
Goldberg, alot of clubs get 4-5 recruits a year & more yet its their own fault if they can't keep them for the same period.
Jervois should be commended for their ability to keep players at the club & its not only money that keeps them there, their a very close knit bunch of blokes that stick together on & off the field which has resulted in premiership glory 4 years straight.
As far as the %'s are easier quote, what a joke, nothings easy, its the clubs ability to target the right character of players & make them happy with their surroundings ( clubrooms, team mates ), any club can do that if their smart.
You make it sound like its all been handed to Jervois on a silver platter which it hasn't, Richards & Mahoney have had alot to do with it.
isnt goldberg saying that you should be congratulated for recruiting such players NM??
you boys get a bit defensive whenever recruiting or player payments are spoken about...

WELL SAID NM

I understand Goldberg is crediting Jervois with its recruiting but he's vertually questioning how they stick around for 4-5 yrs, he's saying the %s are easier for Jervois because of their number of recruits, they have no more than any other club in the comp. I'm just stating nothings handed to them on a silver platter, Its just Jervois know how to make players feel welcome, which has built an environment for WINNERS.
Alot out there are just waiting & hoping for Jervois to fall over, even if they have one bad year ( which they won't ) you can't say the writing was on the wall & the long term damage was done earlier by paying $$$, You can't tell me Imps & Co arn't paying the same amount of $$$ jervois are, its just some get so jealous of seeing others do it better than them (especially seeing Jervois winning 4 flags in a row) so they always look for excuses.

But saying the Bluds have the same amount of recruits as every other club in just plain wrong. Sorry, but thats the truth. Imps may be the only other team to rival you in that dept. Lets see!
Ewer 1
Schmidt 2
Mahony 3
Jacgodnick 4
Rigney 5
Rigney 6
Bayliss 7
Fraunfelter 8
Beard 9
Moller 10
Lyon 11
Stimpson?? 12
Fidge?? 13
Now I am saying you recruit well, But you also recruit big! There is also the fact that clubs like TBend & Jervois must recruit more players because they simply dont have the locals to fill sides anymore, but 11-13 recruits in 1 side is maybe 4 or 5 too many. Only my opinion

GWW wrote:I would tend to agree here Goldberg. The thing with Jervois over the last 5 or so years is that they've had a heap of recruits, and even before then they had quite a few but their success rate wasn't as high. I'm not close to Jervois' inner sanctum but i believe Stimpson and Fidge would both be classed as locals. But to me, the Bloods probably have about 3 or 4 outsiders than they really need...why would they need to recruit that Fraunfelter guy from SA when they already have Bayliss, Lyon, the Brauns etc. But yes good luck to them, they haven't done anything wrong, but do tend to recruit more than they really need to.
As for Imps, their recruits would be Girdham, Tonkin, Josh Charles, as well as Baillie, who has moved to the district, and Harrowfield and Puckridge who were recruited from outside the district but now live in Murray Bridge.
