Lyrup, Wunkar and East Murray have all withdrawn their teams.
All of the others have struggled for numbers.
Then you see some of the u15 and u18 teams have got heaps of kids missing out each week.
We're lucky at Paringa that Renmark are willing to give us some of their players if we're short.
Some of the other clubs aren't so lucky.
Any thoughts of what can be done to fix this?
Wind up the independent competition altogether.
I think thats going too far, sounds like the numbers are there just not spread around or maybe even the location of some clubs i.e Browns well, morook even paringa. when I played up there I started in the U13's for loxton and only ended up going to wunkar because my mates from high school where playing out there Bland, S Shultz, Kassulke, evans and co, the league was very healthy in the late 80's early 90's but that was a long time ago, would be a sad day if this does happen which i hope it doesnt. Maybe these clubs need to approch the clubs that have the numbers to maybe encourage the kids out to these stuggling clubs like Renmark help Paringa
Yep. That's a small-minded view from one individual.
The A grade competition is quite strong, with the exception of Wunkar.
I know the Loxton teams might not be able to share their players as much due to having so many teams in the area.
Perhaps a merger of colts teams (not A grade) could be the answer.
Wunkar and East Murray's colts teams for example.
you reckon i'm the only one?? if they can't field junior teams now, it's only a matter of time until the senior teams fold as they will not have players to come up. I'd almost guarantee there will no longer be an independent competition within 10 years. Unfortunate, but a sad reality.
