Thats cricket. Need to take the good with the bad. Thought it was a good contest with Pooraka just being to good on the day. Very happy to get through this game with a win, missing 5 players from the usual side.

Congrates to Hope Valley they outplayed us last night they bowled extremely well when needed and deserved to win.
However i will say what an absolute joke that song the team done after the game and the carry on afterwards was some of the worst sportsmanship i have ever seen. Remember to be good winners that's all i can say. There would have been no way known I/F would have carried on like that. Good luck next round just hope you put the song away until maybe you win a flag or something

Brahma sing the club song in the changerooms after a win, probably not 20/20 though..

The song gets sung all through the grades and has done for some time now, whether its a minor round win or a flag. As for the carry on afterwards, I cant comment on as I had left by that stage, dont think the boys would have meant to be disrespectful, probably a little excited that they had pulled a win from the position that they where in.

Correct

6 LBWs at a dodgy run out, great umpiring

Last LBW was off the last ball of the day when BL needed 1 run......

Was at the match as an independent observer only, without being a member of either club.

Been around cricket for some 36 years in some capacity as a player or 10 as a coach/captain coach and as an administrator, in either District Cricket or Adelaide Turf, with a good majority being in District.

6 LBW decisions and a shocking caught behind. 2 of the LBW decisions at best could be described as possibly out, whilst 4 others were absolute howlers.

5 howlers out of 10 dismissals is very ordinary. You probably expect 1 or 2 per side per innings, but this was above and beyond the call of duty.

Commented to many others in cricket circles, earlier tonight what I had witnessed and no one could believe what I was describing. Not flash at all for the game - let alone the spectators or players.

Same stuff was happening at our game yesterday. We managed to chase down 268 in the last over and it was a fantastic game, both teams at one stage lost 4/6 to recover well, but the game was nearly ruined by one umpire who gave an LBW out when the guy has a bruise on his thigh about 20cm above his knee! Twice he gave me not out when i was hit on the back leg below the kneeroll, after walking across my stumps and once giving a run out with his back to both the batter AND the stumps!!!!

When the batter walked up to the umpire at tea and showed him the bruise the umpire came back with
'I dont care where it hit you, your out'..... thats the attitude of most of these ego trippers give you.

I know that everything evens itself out over time, we had a couple of dodgy desicions last week, but the overall standard has to be better surely?

With the restructure next year we will drop a game in each of A1-A3, hopefully they dump the 6 worst umps as a result.
In reality, I'd like to see them dump the bottom 16 and let A3 umpire themselves, umps only for A1 and A2.
At least if players are umpiring, while you will get far fewer LBWs, at least both teams know where things stand going into the game.

The other consideration is it costs a team in A3 $1,905 for umpires, and add another $400 if they play finals.
For the clubs who don't have their own bar facilities, finding $2,300 to pay these guys is a tough ask, and at times you really find yourself wondering why you bother given the service we get in return.

Bad decisions will always happen with either club or association umpires, it the nature of cricket and you're not going to change that. But to be paying such a considerable sum for such a poor service, it's just not on!
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Especially when sitting at mid wicket boundary you hear the inside edge onto the pad and the 90 year old can't hear it cause he hasn't turned his hearing aid on

One of the very, very, very ordinary efforts from both umpires (especially one who is noted for being trigger happy) that I have ever seen. Would not have wanted to be a player or coach anymore, as it would be very easy to become highly frustrated and say something that the umpires would not be happy with. Well done to the BL lads for not indulging in any sledging of the two guys supposedly in charge.

Players yes but there were a couple of non players that did point out some of their errors and made a few suggestions to them eg turning hearing aids on, direct hits on a run out doesn't automatically make the guy out and that they aren't the most important people in the middle

Interesting to note that they spent a lot of time in opposition change rooms after the game sharing a few jokes, whilst spending 30 seconds in The Lodge rooms

Are you implying that Goodwood paid extra?

As a former member of the very team in question that would not be the case. Goodwood have a lot of experienced players who have been around turf cricket for years. They know full well that the umpiring can be laughable at times but its A3 cricket, deal with it. If you don't like it then assemble a team to move up a grade, can't guarantee it would be a better umpiring standard though.
