With all due respect, Al bowls some classy stuff and is very reliable....but he's taken 7 wickets for the year after dominating Grade 2.
Lets just tone it down a little until he stops beating up on B Grade sides.

True about Al but I think not having Micky Richards bowling at the other end isn't helping him.
The amount of overs he bowled last year and been another year older would be taking its toll.
I don't think there is much difference between the bottom 4 grade 1 sides and top couple grade 2 sides as Craigmore and Atco are proving.

Hewy knew G1 would be a massive challenge. Hes possibly lost a yard of pace and is struggling a little to re-capture his form of the past few seasons but he works hard and is always thinking about his bowling. Also he normally bowls better the longer his spell goes so i dont think the amount of overs he bowled last season is a factor in his slight decline, however a couple of niggles could be?

Davies is a freak, once in a life time player for local cricket, so you cant chuck his name against frankie, bit unfair to compare. Frankie might not be as quick, but bowls in the right areas and gets movement, the fundamentals to a good bowler, dosent need the express pace. Plus ther blokes a puppy still and from i seen a few years back, has improved hugely, and to have the hitting capabilities he has, will be a future player in grade 1. Give Eastern park 5 years with the same side and they will be a side to fear, for a bunch of young blokes they have talent

Imagine a switched on and fit Ray Smith, Franky McConnell, Ian Williamson, Binga in 3 years time, will be like the 80,s West Indies attack

Wizard of Oz wrote:Justin Davies is the best bowler in the competition by a long way... However the bloke that bowls down the other end is quite handy too with nearly 400 wickets.
But lets get one thing straight... Justin, whilst brisk at times, is not quick. There are no quicks in this comp anymore. Justin's strengths are his discipline, line and length and movement both ways. And as he hits hit late 20's he'll be even better...He's past 200 wickets at only 21.
Westies have had some good ones over the years with Glen North and Robbie Drake featuring prominently. Now Glen North...he was quick.

Johnny and Justin would be the best tandem bowling attack ive ever seen, and thats from someone who didnt play in the 90's so i cant go back that far. Thats Why justin is a good bowler, not from pace but his line and length your right Oz. The one thing i really admire from your club is the professionalism, we played you boys about 3 years back at smithfield and i reckon not one loose shot was played you blokes just took the singles and picked off the bad balls, and when the innings was over i thought maybe we might have a shot here, thought 180 max, but you guys end up making 240 i reckon, and i thought to myself thats just class, didnt need to smack it around, just kept partnerships going and rotated the strike regurlary.

Chris Hughes is the best bowler I have seen in my short life... He was quick, aggressive and arrogant. I can remember him taking wickets and running over to where the other team were sitting and yelling "keep them coming"
