8 overs 7 maidens 3 for 1 ain't too bad pal ;)

But yes Pete Atkins for NEK double ton a reasonable day out in a 40 over match. He hit 17 X sixes in one innings (that's more than I've done in my life!) and gave only one chance

Fortunately for us his he didn't get going Saturday

Yep it' pretty impressive bowling effort - 48 dot balls, and the 1 run came from a wide first ball - we could've used that vs NEK that round

I would've thought Pete would get a bit more mention around the traps for his double.. but I'm sure he's probably told everyone as well  Also double hundreds don't seem as uncommon these days with the smaller/quicker grounds - Enfield's Russell Swansson hit 235no last year in a one day match batting at no. 5 for instance..

The standard is poop.

I personally think they need to look at 6 teams per grade very soon.

Ah righto, I thought you were saying they should get preference over B grade sides.

Yep think 6x team divs seems a no brainer - currently massive gap between the top sides and the bottom sides... and then as you go down the grades the number of teams are all over the shop.

Is this where Parafield Gradens play? Grade 2
See ex Rose Parker Matt Ralph smashed his maiden ton for them on Saturday. Also have Paul Wright out there

Parafield Gardens play Grade 1 - they went up this year with Riverside I think.

I wouldn't mind playing at Bradman Oval every other week though.. it's pretty similar to NEK ground - only a little smaller I think..

PGCC were relegated but got an exemption from Rosies pulling out.

Bear in mind, besides Ben McMullen who is an exceptional bowler, Riverside are pretty skint in the bowling department, a ton is a ton though.

A few years ago I was fielding at deep mid off on Bradman Oval and I went down to field the ball, dropping my knee and getting my body behind the ball only for the ball to hit a bump and go flying over my head, no shit, I reckon the balls gained pace in the outfield that day, they made 9/359, we chased it down and made 427.

That's what it was like at NEK ground the other week haha!

Both NEK and PG are soccer grounds during the winter, I wonder if that has an influence on the ground? Obviously soccer sides would like quick, smooth grounds to play on and not so lush?

They are generally over-used too so they cop a hammering, being more compact than a football oval the traffic is higher.

The NEK ground we played on Saturday needs a big drink but apparently they've had trouble with the pump at the ground. Ball flew there again on Saturday.

Good outcome for your lads on Saturday though, 171 on that ground I don't think is nearly enough - especially in a 2 day game, and NEK bowling attack is not threatening.. should be a comfortable chase.

Para Vista v Fitzroy was a massive shock - should chase an outright from here after rolling them for 42 and leading by 97 overnight.. would you declare over night and rip straight into them or look to build a lead?

Although if you didn't need points so bad, having a day off wouldn't be the worst thing haha!

I would support that prediction.. I think he will go nuts this week and rack up a big score very rapidly.
