One thing I actually agree with you on Wubsy. T20 is shit and I think this AFLX is going to be rubbish

I love my Aussie rules and my cricket can both exsist if they are fighting over attendance, marketing etc at the same time of the year
I fear for cricket!!! Would hate to see the day a summer in Australia doesn't have cricket as its number one sport
Personally I think there needs to be an overriding body who monitor sports bodies with the overall best interest of sport in Australia in mind not each individual sporting body

Depends what prize money is up grabs
If money doesn't work winter season concessions could be put on the line ala round 1 draft pick for the winners etc
The AFL haven't put all this money into the concept to let it fail because the stars won't play

AFLX would be a pretty good money grab for the AFL though, make no mistake.
This format would set itself up more for draftees, recently delisted players and mature-age player - but after the season - which would be good for maintaining that post-season market share the AFL has been craving.
I've often thought the next stage of the AFL's campaign to maintain market share is a Masters-type competition, featuring players 35 to 45, which would fill the gap after Christmas and up to the AFLW starting.

Could be a good idea DW regarding delisted players and potential draftees. If it were like the T20 then they could nominate themselves and then be shuffled into franchises and it could be a chance to showcase the available talent prior to the draft...

So SANFL/WAFL/VFL clubs about to embark on a finals campaign will release their star players to some AFLX?

Surely the market dictates this? As in, if only a minority of the population enjoy cricket and the rest of us want to see AFLX, who is anyone to deny that?
