Interesting that with the Bye next season some clubs will be playing "blockbuster" games less than others, will be interesting to see which Vic sides are given these games and who misses out and how they are compensated!

Derbys, Showdowns, Coll/Ess, Car/Coll, Car/Ess, Car/Rich

When the above matches must be in the program twice a year then what does it leave for the rest? Not much.

We play Essendon, Collingwood, Richmond and Carlton once a year without fail.

Roos host all 6 interstate clubs as home games this year.

Collingwood host 2 interstate clubs at home this year.
Ess/Carl host 4 interstate clubs at home this year.

You cant deny that the comp is set up for the rich to get rich and the poor to remain poor.

I understand we dont have the fan base but we do have the best fan>member ratio in the comp so that proves the club works hard to convert fans into members.

absolute rubbish - thats what the competitive balance fund is for, if the clubs were left to their own devices they wouldnt be here now

should microsoft give some of their profits to apple?

or google give theirs to some other search engine company?

Ok give us an even draw then, you cant have it both ways!

BTW this is just an increase to the competitive balance fund, not an additional grab for cash.

so if the government increase tax rates to 60% it wouldnt be seen as an additional grab for cash?

i have no problem with current c.b.f but increasing it, especially when the fal are gloating about how much money they are pumping into 2 worthless sides makes no sense to me

you cant have it both ways either - have a small club but expect additional income because of it - that just encourages you to stay small

So what would you propose to deal with the inequalities of the draw?

Git rid of four Melbourne clubs - relocate them into the VFL so their fans don't "lose" their club

Everyone plays each other twice over 26 weeks.

Simple done.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

This should be in the politics area.

It's no different to our taxation system. Which also sucks.

LMAO the old "franchise" v "club" argument. One could argue there are 16 clubs playing as well as one could that there are 16 franchises. Whats the difference, really?

THE AFL has unveiled a Robin Hood-style plan to tax the wealthy clubs in a bid to help the poorer clubs in a controversial increase in attendance levies under which Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn and Geelong would be charged an extra $1 a fan at the turnstiles.

Typical bloody socialists! Communists!!1! Always trying to drag the winners in society down to the bottom with the rest of the plebs. Leftists! The go getters always get punished, where would we be without real hard working Australians like Kerry Packer, huh? Kerry didn't pay any tax he didn't sit back and take crap like this lying down! Where's the initiative? Where's the strive to be a hard working ornament to this country like Kerry was? Bludgers!

oops sorry thought this was the politics section ;)

I'm baffled why they want to include Freo as a "rich club". The club was making a loss for years, turns it around and gets punished for it. FFS.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Mate I bought your arguement two years ago after coming back to Adelaide. The AFL if full of franchises footy clubs only exist at the SANFL/State League level.

am, you're on the wrong board if you want the hand clap icon for repetitive, unoriginal pay-outs of the AFL!

Hardly a newbie

I have read many conversations about franchises on this board over my 3 or so years & been involved in most of them.

I disagree with your opinion which you have given many times now as strongly as I always have!

What makes an SANFL club more of a club than an AFL one. Most SANFL clubs have strong non-football related income streams these days. What's your point of difference?

I was having a go at your opinion BTW, not at you. Notice you responded with a go at me. Oh well. Put me back in my box with a good argument.

Yes, a Crows fan tired of hearing the word "franchise"

shoot me

I just need a Collingwood fan to come on and tell me how their multi-business corporate empire is a club while the crows are a franchise. Punky, where are you?

I always figured a "club" had rooms where fans could go and dine, drink and perhaps have a punt, meet the players after a game, mingle with friends and fellow supporters etc etc.
