my lists in no particular order of who I think were great players in my time of watching footy
Forwards
Lockett - goal kicking machine
Carey - just his presence lifted all around him
Ablett Snr - freakish goal sense
Midfield
Judd - love the way he goes about it, will beat anyone one on one
Ablett Jnr - his work at stoppages is amazing, how many times is there a ball up with him on the bottom of the pack, it's either that or he's away, just gets his hands on the footy so much
Cousins - ability to run all day and win the hard footy
Rucks
Cox - easily the best big man around due to his ability to play as an extra midfielder
Darcy - similar to Cox, could play up forward and didn't look out of place
Defenders
Silvagni - not the biggest bloke but an amazing athlete, hate Carlton, loved him
Harris(Lake) - again maybe biased but i rate him, stands tall when we need him
Agree it's hard to compare across categories. Appreciate the WB bias, but I think Rehn, Salmon, Wynd or Primus could mount a case before Darcy. Also would prob choose a Jakovich or Scarlett before Lake Harris.
You could add another category of selection called "Leadership", with membership of Kelly, Ricciuto, Buckley, Voss and Hird, in no particular order.
