an umpire shouldnt really be touching players should he!
whats he going to do
1/ stand there and keep blowing his whistle
2/ yell at them to break it up while the players ignore him
3/ pay a free kick and get abused for not letting boys be boys etc etc

I watched a replay of this game yesterday, I didn't see anything specific that he should have been reported for.
There was an incident where South had kicked a goal and the ball was heading back to the middle to be bounced and Salter had a free kick paid against him, awarded to the Panther player at CHF, for "punching him in the back" according to the audio from umpire Corey Bowen.
Not sure if that is the 'incident' they are thinking of?

Fair Point to be honest. Not sure it was smart of the female trainer to be in there though.

4. Pay a free kick
5. Lay a report if necessary
If an ump cant control a situation then who can?

4. yes but then cops alot of abuse for being soft, not in the spirit of the game, who did what first etc etc, how would you pick a free kick out especially if you only pick the incident up halfway through.
5. yes but the report cant be done until the 2 players have stopped fighting, wrestling etc etc.
6. what if the ball is at the other end of the ground.
If two or more blokes want to wrestle and fight who is going to be able 'to control the situation' when have you ever seen the umpire stop 2 blokes from fighting except for when the ball is around the area and they throw it up.
They are umpires not bouncers or security guards. Geez Weslo cant even brake up a fight in the crowd involving 75kg men how is an umpire going to break up a fight between two 80-90kg well toned blokes.

It shouldnt have been left upto a water boy/girl, who was 100% in the wrong and should have been no where near it.

If there's a melée or a blue there would be any number of infringements taking place, even as simple as holding the man .. If you pay a free kick and/or 50 and threaten reports (or even take a number) most times you would think it would diffuse a situation .. If not, then yeah I agree there's not much more an ump could do

Not sure mate, I didn't see that one personally but I think Andrew Hayes on Special Comments for LifeFM noticed it. Was Matty Lokan involved?

definatly not, imagine if she gets involved and Lokan accidently hits her with a stray elbow or something.
his reputation is gone forever, imagine the scrutiny it would cop and all the abuse spectators would give him for 'hitting' a girl even though he probably wouldnt have noticed her there.
if anything she should be suspended, her job is to run water and help injured players nothing more!
