I wouldn't imagine that type of threat would be well received by sanfl clubs (or at least it shouldn't be).
What sanfl sponsors that haven't jumped ship already would do so because they have a reserves side in the Vfl?? Sounds really attractive.
These arrogant afl clubs have really shown their true colours over the last 6 months.
Sell their licenses, call in the loans, make money off the land at west lakes and Adelaide oval and charge them a fortune for the privilege of playing in our reserves! Arrogant f$&@"&$!! The afl directly pays the sanfl clubs SFA, so tell them where to go. They're bluffing - the sanfl have the strongest hand.

Let the Crows take their "bat and ball" and sulk off to the VFL. How much exposure are sponsors who are not in the national market actually going to get if the Crows SECONDS play in the VFL? The VFL has worse crowds than us, the only TV interest is on the ABC and that may only be until the end of this season and they get even less print media coverage than the SANFL?
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

To be honest, if they were in the vfl and getting nothing from the sanfl their priority would be themselves so if funding it hurt the sanfl clubs as they lost sponsors... I guess That's how it would be.

Wtf are you talking about . We are selling them. There is no dividends to negotiate.

If a sa sponsor(doubt sanfl clubs wouldnt have to many victorian companies sponsors) the ravens in the vfl they are more than welcome to. :-)

I was referring to the Adelaide oval deal/sanfl dividends.

I'd also add, the crows wouldn't be looking for 'ravens ' sponsors, the sponsors would be for the crows with money flowing to the ravens.

SANFL reserves debate may extend to 2014
by: Michelangelo Rucci •From: The Advertiser •July 24, 2013 10:30PM

IT took the West Australians two years to argue and resolve how to place the West Coast and Fremantle AFL reserves in the WAFL.
Don't expect SA to do the same in just two months.

So significant is the decision before the SANFL league directors - and so incomplete is the information before them - that it is increasingly likely the vote on placing Crows and Power reserves teams in the SANFL will drag into 2014.

The SA Football Commission will meet on Tuesday to consider the far-ranging paper prepared by SANFL football chief Chris Davies.

The commission may fulfil their intent to make a recommendation to the eight league directors that day.

The directors will then go to their club boards.

By mid-August they may be ready to meet again, but probably not to vote.

There are too many questions, too many concerns and too little information - verified information - to allow for a reasoned decision that becomes the biggest change to the SANFL competition since the Crows were formed as SA's first AFL entry in 1990.

As one league director told The Advertiser yesterday, they had more audited data to consider a decade ago when the NTFL wanted to submit the SANFL's 10th league team from Darwin.

Some key issues are resolved, but not locked away. Such as the directors demanding the Crows and Power pay a licence fee to submit their reserves teams in the SANFL.

Port Adelaide is offering to hand back its $625,000 SANFL dividend; the Crows are offering $40,000-$50,000 to each of the eight SANFL clubs.

Expect the figure to get closer to $100,000.

In question still is how the AFL reserves teams get "top-up" players to cover injuries. Port wants to use the current Magpies system, but the commission insists a Power-Magpies merger will not be endorsed.

The Crows want to claim "guest" players from SANFL reserves teams, amateur clubs or even by placing advertisements in the newspaper. The directors are not convinced.

In doubt is Adelaide chairman Rob Chapman's assumption-based figures predicting the Crows reserves team - which will always play games as the "visiting team" in SANFL suburbia rather than curtain-raisers at the new Adelaide Oval - will draw 4000 fans.

The directors suggest the figure is more likely to be 2700 - and they are being warned by their clubs' members there will be boycotts rather than interest in Crows and Power reserves games.

Also of concern to the league directors is separating the current link between SANFL and AFL clubs, one that is strong with the Crows and always has been testy with the Power.

And there are league directors who are quite happy to keep the reserves debate on the backburner until the SANFL has sold the Crows and Power licences back to the AFL Commission and cleared away all the deals at Adelaide Oval.

Peter Jonas, who coached Central District to its first SANFL premiership in 2000, may have to wait until 2015 to be the Crows reserves coach in the state league.

And Ken McGregor can expect another season in charge of the Magpies before the Power hands his job to a development coach.

The potential extension of the debate going into 2014 raises an interesting dynamic.

Previously the club AGMs and Board elections were to be held after the vote on the reserves teams.

Now with the potential for a delay the elections may be held with the issue well and truly in the minds of members.

This may force some Directors to declare their hand on the issue.

Will the current 8 Chairmen be the same people ultimately voting if this goes into 2014?

Interesting times ahead.

Is it not true that the SANFL is involved in the Adelaide oval move, and will be receiving a dividend from AFL games, which in one way or another would flow back to SANFL clubs.

Is it not also true that the license sales are looking like $1 million a year over 15 years ?

Didn't the Crows come out a few months ago requesting a decision on this matter by a certain date so they could plan for 2014? Why are there still signifcant gaps in the information available? What have they been doing for the past 3 months? Seems quite a contrast to the detailed proposal that Freo/WCE put together a few years back (a link was provided a few weeks ago on here..very interesting read)

Good question, ask Rob Chapman, who has always been ludicrously over optimistic about this since day one.
For all his sleek corporate speak, there has been a whiff of bluster about it all.

That if Adelaide decide to F' off, that they will probably become a lot more 'selfish' in their dealings.... you only have to listen to Chapmans recent ramblings, so if they are going to leave you'd want to get all the licensing and finaces in order first.

From a 'business' point of view, if they feel they are getting little from the SANFL, they will be more hardball, and we will have to deal with it.

Given the way the cows have conducted themselves over the last two years I have withdrawn my support , totally. I have always had the Roosters as numero uno, and the cows as an interest in the VFL [afl.pty.ltd]. Well from here on in my support / interest is now with the swans, because they are RED and WHITE. There will be a ceremonial burning of my cows jumper at the earliest opportunity.
R Chapman, S Trigg, B Sanderson, you are all complisate with afl.pty.ltd. in attempting to marginalize the SANFL.

The thought, threat, of cows second rated , compilation team stealing sponsorship and going to the VFL is laughable. Who ? Who is going to pull their sponsorship from the SANFL to gain EXTRA !!! exposure at the VFL? Let me tell you, if the likes of Gliderol, [ the only national company, high profile I can think of] were to pull their support of the SANFL, via The Bays, they would lose my account. And they will get told that if it were to seem like happening.

From a Rooster perspective, start planning for a finals campgain without Jerry Lewis, Andrew Moore, Daniel Stewart, Nathan Blee. They aint gunna be "available''. Will be a good thing IMHO. As much as I rate most of these guys

Crows become more selfish so we put the rent up at Adelaide Oval and refuse to sell the licences.

Guess what happens next Timmy ????
