I'd have thought the fact that Brett played a major part in turning a club around... in terms of both on field and off field performance would mean a great deal to him. To go from having 1500 people a game at the Bay to crowds of up to 12,000 with a very strong following would mean a lot. To play in a side that has been relatively successful would also mean something. We were a basket case early on in the 2000's. a few wins per season... and a few goals per game. Brett was apart of the onfield brigade that flipped that around. Off field he'd be pretty happy with what he contributed to the club and its members.
For him personally he has led the side (as VC in Mulesy's absence), he has been a regular state player, Fos Williams medalist and a Magarey medalist.. I think that means that while at NO stage am I suggesting he played for individual accolades or that individual honors meant more to him than a preimership would have.... he couldnt be totally unhappy with his time at the GFC nor can the mombers not be very very happy and thankful for the time and passion he showed in return.
Not if his only reason for coming here was to win a premiership,
I don't think every player has made a bad decision remembering while everyone strives to win a premiership not every players reason for coming here is to win a premiership, some see this as a pathway to AFL, others are coming back from the AFL and want to play with mates/connections, other move clubs to get league oppurtunity, other choose the money over team success.
