Is "vendetta" an Italian word? Sorry off topic.

Just for once, think it through. When do you sign the majority of your recruits, and certainly the better ones? That's right ... pre-season, not after the season begins, when salary caps are finalised, etc. Effectively Norwood were unable to recruit for an entire season. Got that straight?

Wasnt it players werent allowed to sign until after a certain date. That didnt mean they couldnt approach players and so forth and then sign after the imposed date.

What were the Norwoods Ins thats season.

Im not fussed about there penalty as it didnt effect Central performance but would be interested to hear the exact details.

You're right about the date mate, was a 12 month ban effectively from recruiting anyone outside of our zone .. We then recruited Jac Kennedy Hunt (buggerall $) when the ban expired and that was it .. He's no longer at the club btw, so whilst maybe it wasnt what the SANFL had intended, no club was going to sign a decent recruit and not unveil him or allow him to have a kick until so late in the off-season (late trial game time IIRC) - The ban landed I'd say %98 of it's intended purpose.

The (avoidable) penalties came about through a stupid lack of knowledge on the club's behalf which as I understand it,is something that now appears to be well rectified (at least I **** hope it is)

I hope Centrals sues for defamation and takes Cornes and 5AA to the cleaners over this. Given the Cornes' are quick to cry defamation for less, be good to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Good to see the SANFL put Cornes back in his box for once.

Pretty hard to catch anyone breaching the cap if no one is being investigated.

And this is from a Norwood 'supporter' (and I use that term loosely)

Given his strong show of support for the SANFL a little while back, the hopefulness in his voice followed by the despair after speaking with Chandler, it can only be put down to jealousy. Hardly worth concerning yourself over, the issue is his and no one elses.

True but the club could do with the money - we could fund the light tower redevelopment with the settlement

Cornes is not the one pushing this salary cap agenda. I'm sure it will become apparent tomorrow who is and who gave 'Ralph' the rumour.

No, he didn't. But he certainly got excited by it! Then his disappointment was pretty obvious. Good to know he copped some daggers at the time though.

John Condon, that fearless fighter for the truth, once turned up at Elizabeth Oval and was greeted by three QCs.

That's where the light globe money went.
