Sturt finished 1/2 game of 3rd last year remember , interesting to see this thread raised again in Sept I think.

South suupporters should just sit quiet for a while before they gain some respect.

Well shoot me down - the thread asked for their predictions...so I did.

Funny people laughed at Norwood last year.....you have to have some confidence and belief. FFS!!!
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

It did ask for predictions ,then you came on and shot down Clarrie then have a go at me , yet you have the audacity to do the same .

Good luck with your prediction.

Read back...I placed my order and Clarrie was the one who called me a "Knob" over my prediction. I never had a go at him first.

I'll predict that when you finally work it out that they are two old sparring partners, you may understand that advising that "South suupporters should just sit quiet for a while before they gain some respect " to be somwhat ironic.

There are some wildly different predictions going on here. A sign of an even comp, or just a lot of unknowns? Or perhaps just some wishful thinking?

With apologies to the Norwood fans, I'm at a loss to know why it's accepted that they will be automatically top three.

I thought their midfield was the best in the comp last year. They've lost Trotter, Lower and Weatherald from that which is a huge loss. Campbell will be a fitter good addition and I don't know much about Suckling, but their midfield looks dramatically weaker at first look and will need someone stepping up from the other players to supplement Zorzi and Gallagher.

I thought their defensive game plan (yes, said without a wink) worked because of the pace of their transition from defence, through Puopolo and Duigan. Both gone. Gorringe didn't play much, but I'd think there will be a lot of pressure on dawe. Are there any other ruckmen to help him?

I don't think much is lost with Nitschke and Lee going, although Nitschke was an honest, depth player. Roberts is a loss as a young up-and-comer and I don't know much about Savage, except as a promising juinior.

Coming back, I remember Littler as a handy utility who could play midfield if necessary. Eagleton should add penetration and experience, Jericho is Jericho, Pfeiffer - who knows, Bode is an average back flanker and I can't see Johns getting a league game.

All in all, the ''outs'' are far more than the ''ins'', which means you're relying on Bassett to make the difference. If he does, then I'll be the first to acknowledge it and good luck to him.

PS: God help you if Rowe gets injured.

Premiers: Glenelg (you will witness grown men openly weeping on GF day!)
Runners up: Eagles (up there)
3: Central (due for a drop)
4: Port (need to win close matches)
5: Norwood (lost to much talent)
6: North (improvement but not enough to make finals)
7: West (need a game plan)
8: South (slight improvement)
9: Sturt (down, down, down...)

EDITED: Had second thoughts about North...moved them from 9th to 6th...and wish to apologise to any North supporters who were offended by my comment that North were the new South Adelaide...

I agree that their losses outweigh their gains, but I think a few of the better sides are weaker this year than last. And I think last year's top 4 were well clear of the rest.

Gorringe is no loss to them. He might become a great AFL ruckman, but he didn't do much last year. A decent mature age ruckman would do better at SANFL level than Gorringe did last year.

I can see it going down like this:

Elim Final: Norwood Vs Port (Norwood finished the season in 4th). Norwood up by 8 points at 3/4 time but run out of legs in the last to lose by 16 points...

Qual Final: Eagles Vs Centrals. (Centrals finished in 2nd). Dogs lose a close one...Eagles too good and win by 12 points...

Next week...

1st Semi Final: Port Vs Centrals. A close, goal for goal, low scoring affair. Dogs manage to string 2 goals together to just get over the line...

2nd Semi Final: Eagles Vs Glenelg. Eagles stay in front by 4 goals all day till the final siren...

Next week...

Prelim Final: Centrals Vs Glenelg. Bays exorcise a few demons here. Glenelg by 6 goals. Dogs unsettled lineup finally catches up with them. Todd Grima kicks 8.1...

Next week...

Grand Final: Eagles Vs Glenelg. A close battle up until 3/4 time after which the Bays turn it on. Bays by 28 points. Ty Allen wins the Jack Oatey Medal...

Glenelg
Torrens
Centrals
Norwood
North
---------------
West
Sturt
Port
South

No real method to my madness here. I just think Glenelg are due to crack it eventually, be it against Torrens or Central, who knows, but I think premiership No.5 might finally arrive.

As for the bottom 4, think Westies will just miss out again a la last season, as for the bottom 3, hard to tell who will be where, Sturt might not be as bad as I think, Port could be better, South could be better.

FIW... not sure how we can judge @ this stage but;

End of minor round:
Sturt ( break the 1978 record of 1 loss & go thru undefeated)

Premiers:
Sturt 8)
Stephen Trigg & Rob Chapman are SA Football Patriots
