Unfortunately, you're right...
Sturt didn't look like having a chance after the first five minutes of the first qtr. The Roosters came switched on and blew the Double Blues out of the water. For me, the key points to their game was their ability to take strong marks, continually apply pressure to their opponents and find space all too often. Hats off North on clearly being a far superior team on the day.
As a Sturt supporter, I'd be about as worried as a Bulldogs supporter after last weeks game - not very. Sturt have proven they're a contender and will play a big role in September. Having 5 days to get up after a hit out against the league benchmark makes life a bit more difficult. If we get pumped by the Tigers next week then I'll start getting concerned.
As for today's game, I don't think you'd really want to go into who was best for Sturt... Fellow Sturt supporters - is Avery the real deal? In my opinion - no. Every time I've seen him play, I've commented that he struggles to read the play and is too often found lagging many metres behind his opponent. Surely we have some better prospects in our 2's...
And what do we think of Nick Gill's tackle (particularly ironic given the ABC's three qtr time discussion). I thought it was pretty poor and could have had more serious consequences. Still, Gill's probably frustrated knowing that he'll never play AFL again...
Oh well, there's always next week.
