Very happy with the win today - it was our first test against a team that will most likely be thereabouts at the business end of the season.

A lesson to people who intend to attend a game at Unley Oval this year - the scoreboard and game clock should only be used as an approximate guide and is not a true indication of the actual score and time elapsed. Numerous times the scoreboard was incorrect, whilst the game clock stops when reaching 30mins, and in the 2nd quarter wasn't started until about 2mins into the quarter.

Yeah, Sturt were unfortunate with the Jaensch situation. However Banner was dropped from the Power and didn't play today.

Maybe we were just finding our feet in the first two rounds. Perhaps Godds' game plan makes us once again match up well against Sturt ala back to the 14 match winning streak between 2003 and 2008. It was deplorable footy last week; this week was 1000% better. How can you lose scoring 150 points?

A constant throughout the three matches so far is the final quarter. Contrary to belief, this is the quarter won the most by the winning team. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14778&start=0 The three final quarters have netted 19.6 to 9.1.

MALigned as he is, Cheep was pretty good today until he went off with what's probably a rolled ankle. Goldsworthy was lively, Powell and Jarrad productive, the 100 gamer Grocke did all the things he is noted for, Miles once again did well when he moved into the ruck. Another impressive thing for me is the array of goalkickers. No-one was relied upon to score the goals, and this causes real headaches for opposition coaches!

Also another mention to Grieger; who again reminds me of Steven Hall did what Hally used to do and keep Chambers in check. He kicked 18 goals last year in the two matches - today only two.

only thing left to be answered in season 2010, is how are centrals going to shutdown the eagles forwards in the GF! not a troll post, i watched the game on tv and even though sturt threw everything at the eagles, they were simply too good.especially if they keep salter.scary forward line to say the least.

Even an incorrect scoreboard and game clock is better than what Richmond Oval had last night!

The time clock was borrowed from THEBARTON...
Yes it's unfortunate for us that the historic analogue retro time clock we have at our ground has finally shat itself.
The electricians tried in vain to get it working but had to give up considering its age and the fact that the company no longer exists that made it.
A little bit of knowledge wouldn't hurt you Hopeful Jelly Belly, I congratulate you on your win, but I take offence to your attack on one of our young volunteers who puts his hand up to help do a job that no one else can be bothered with. :-q :butthead:

Rimmington made a bit of a dick of himself in the changerooms after the game though!

What he do?

In the middle of the club song when the camera got around to him he pointed to himself with both hands and seemed to yell 'KICK IT TO ME' into the camera.

Major wtf? moment.

Agreed Rucci. Stupid comment by jellybaby...little respect shown...might come back to bite him.

Eags too good. A day to forget for the Blues, we just weren't switched on from the opening bounce.

No intention to have a go at a volunteer and everyone's entitled to a mistake now-and-then or have a technical problem like Richmond Oval last night. However if you only attend the ground once a year like myself and see things like this happen year-after-year, from my observations it's just seems a bit amateur from a permanent SANFL venue when others do not seem to have a problem.

Yes I agree, particularly after about 5 minutes into the second quarter. I'd guess there would have been almost 20 frees paid by then, then about that many for the rest of the game. Of course you get the couple of dodgy ones each way as expected but they just let the teams play and only paid the frees that were there.

Certainly don't disagree about the appreciation of all volunteers in the SANFL, at all clubs and across the league in general...

But too many times today at Unley the young scoreboard attendant miss-calculated the scores or completely missed a goal or point registered and failed to put it on the board.

The attendant at any ground doing the scoreboard has to pay attention to the game for 100% of the time to make sure the scores are correct and up to date, unfortunately, this wasn't the case today at Unley on a couple occassions.

Agreed though that everyone makes mistakes from time to time but that being said, unlike Richmond last night, at least there was a scoreboard and time clock ;)

The scoreboard was incorrect a couple of times last week. Agree that volunteers make a club but it shouldn't be asking too much to get the scores right.

ok, the young kid made a blue, he made less mistakes than the umpires & the players, yes he made a couple of errors last week as well but why not give the kid a calculator so he can check before changing the total of the score, i hope the lad doesn't read this site or he'll have an inferiority complex, get off his back

Yeah, that's true. ABC said there were 15 in the first 1/4, but then about 45 for the match.
