Bitter, bitter man.

Better watch out, the RSPCA might be after you for serial dog baiting. Seems that's all you come to the site for.

To your credit, at least you've bothered to turn up.
Unlike your Redleg loving mate who has logged in but hasn't had the courage to post.
I'm sure, though, that he'll turn up and rejoice if the Dogs do get knocked off next weekend.

I call it historical context DW, you call it baiting.

Let's call the whole thing off.

Not sure if you're being a smart arse(nal) or if you genuinely don't know and are just curious as you say. I'll assume you are curious and answer your question.

CDFC lost 12 finals in a row from the 1972 Preliminary until the 1994 1st semi final victory against Norwood which came after a heart breaking loss in overtime in the Qualifying Final to the Evil Empire (oops, I mean PA). :)

All this pain was wiped away on September 10, 2000 and a few times since. The greatest day in history! :D :D

Nwd outs for 2012

retirements
Bown
Gallagher (potentially)
Zorzi (potentially)
Doyle (50/50)
Eagleton (u'd hope!!!)

Draft
Brown
Pfiffer (crows, so may see him still)
Forster
Grigg (potentially)
Rowe
Jonas

moving on more then likely
Young
Campbell

i suppose the only up side is the reserves doing so well this year, but will be a lot of movement and a lot of cap space for the club too make some things happen hopefully. IMO its a good thing. the legs looked very sluggish yesterday and they had 0 fwd line which again IMO was a lot too do with poor coaching.

You seem to want historical context all the time though, so we can all look back and reflect on the good times when Norwood were the team to beat and the Dogs were nothing.
Before we call it off, you can have historical context and I'll enjoy the now.

Thanks. I knew there was a siginificance about the win back then.

I believe we won the first final we played in, back in 1971. We did manage to become reasonably competitive fairly early, something that wasn't so easy being a new club in a new area with a high immigrant population. It was just the winning finals bit we didn't do so well for a while. ;)

FWIW
NW won the Premiership in their first year
I reckon George Giffen kicked NWs first ever goal
Back in those days footy was footy
They built a Grandstand at Adelaide Oval and named it after George

3/4 TIME
NW 1-4
EG 5-11

BOO BOOS
NW 12
EG 5
Total of 34-16 with NW twice as bad as EG

UMPIRING DECISIONS IN FAVOR OF

NW 3
EG 1

NW now have a 7-4 in favor of with the umps
A couple of decisions very close to go goal went against EG in this qtr

NWs foot skills still appalling
Cant question the committment from both sides in a tougher 3rd qtr
EG were good in this qtr adding 2-6 to 0-0
But for poor goal shooting NW might have been 8 goals down
Parry is clearly winning the rucks, and NW persists in playing another almost 7 foot player in attack most of this game

As for me
I was hoping for a few NW goals in the last qtr, 1 goal is

Sure the Grandstand was named after George but not because of George's football exploits.

On this site i have bagged the 2007 Port v Roos AFL Prelim final for lacking intensity for a major final. Well, pains me to admit, but Sunday's final was right up there with it.

gadj, cargoart and other neturals who have bagged this style - I agree with you. Five years ago SANFL offered somewhat of an alternative to the AFL as teams were trying to play footy and score unlike some of the AFL, but now those styles have been reversed and doesn't the difference stand out. The only thing I can offer is that Godden came up with that style to beat Norwood on the day, now he needs to find one to beat Centrals.
Eagles played well - well enough to win a minor round game. Our foot skills were impressive at times, but there wasn't a helluva lot os pressure.

As for Norwood - sure, this year you have lost 6 pretty good players.
But consider the similarities between this year and last year's prelim finals.
You had these six players, we have five injuries (Lewis, Hentschel, Treeby, Welsh, Redden, plus Powell concussed during the game).
This year you had 3-4 injuries, we had close enough to a full squad without any significant inclusions to last year's team.
We got within five points. You blokes didn't fire a shot.
Says something about the spirit of our club that so many of you love to bag.

teaboy, were did Young come from? He won't stay at Norwood if he gets delisted?
And you doubt Campbell to come back?

Not a bad analysis of where Norwood might be heading, except for one thing
Rowe to be drafted? =)) I'm sorry, the only "draft" he will see will be to separate him from the other woolly white ones. Meek as a lamb for his size and potential

Yeah have to agree on Rowey, soft as butter for his size. Im led to believe he is happy with his job and has no intention of being drafted. Believe Zorzi will play on but i think Bryce is weighing up his options in regard to his injury. Obviously wont play next year but i still think he has a few good years left depending on how sucessful his knee op is. Dont think Jonas is going to be drafted, isnt he contracted to Port still. Dont think he has been delisted

By the games end I counted these stats

BOO BOOS
NW 40
EG 18
The way I count them about 15 is a pass mark
Eagles there4 were slightly off their game
The NW total of 40 is the highest amount of boo boos Ive recorded in the last 10 years

FAVORABLE UMPIRING DECISIONS
NW 7
EG 6
Ended up even, however there were a couple of decisions that cost EG close to thier goal
So I reckon NW had the better of the umpiring
This does not include the reversal of the Lane Goal

JIMMY TOUMPAS
Good effort for a 17 year old in only his 3rd League game
In a game marred by poor foot disposal, Jimmy Toumpas stood out
Jimmy only had 8 kicks, but just about all of them were accurate
Jimmy has exceptional skills, moves well and has very precise skills

Norwood supporters would have to be so disappointed with Doyle and Rowe, because on paper, them, Dawe and Shenton would be the envy of most teams.
Is Jonas a rookie or full contract? You'd think Port would give him another chance.

No, they said no to the transfer fee to Glenelg, they wanted him. We didn't deviate from our transfer fee request. You got him without a transfer fee as by this year he was off our list. Facts are are always helpful in any statement.

Fair enough AM bays he would have been handy to both your teams hey ;)

Carlton were over watching Rowe in the Q final vs Eagles then again against Centrals, is why i say that. i agree with you though, he sould have been playing ressies the amount of ball he clunks!

i would assume Young would head back home if/when he gets delisted. Nwd may offer him a contract.
campbell is out of contract and wont play for 12months. harsh but he is potentially the clubs biggest contrat and they are turning alot of contract over so i can see him being around, which is unfortunate.

Nwd will be the big movers in the off season is my bet.
