The AFL is going to prop up PP to the tune of 9 million
Should the other clubs get the same monetary infusion ?
Some have in the past
But whaddabout the financial clubs
To me itsa kick in the guts to the financially successful AFL clubs
I demand Collingwood be given $9m also. The Lexus center is looking a little run down.
Did you say the same thing when Sydney (as well as Brisbane, the Kangaroos and WB) received their financial assistance (not to mention the vast recruiting concessions provided to Sydney and Brisbane)?

The cheapest tickets in the nation are in Adelaide!
They also get more live footy on tv in Melbourne and more options of other sports to go watch!

I thought it was fairly obvious I was being sarcastic. I have no problem with Port receiving a handout.
Even though it's OFF TOPIC, what recruiting concessions have Sydney received?

OK, i may have lost the context of your post, but nonethless my point is that Port is not the first team to receive a handout, which has also been pointed out by other posters on this thread.
From wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_Swans
Attendances consistently dropped below 10,000 when the team performed poorly between 1990 and 1994. The side won the wooden spoon in 1992, 1993 and 1994.
The AFL stepped in to save the Swans, offering substantial monetary and management support. The club survived, despite strong rumours in 1992 that it would merge with the Brisbane Bears or fold altogether. With draft and salary cap concessions in the early 1990s and a series of notable recruits, the team fielded a competitive team after the early part of the decade. During this time, the side was largely held together by two inspirational skippers, both from the Wagga Wagga region of country New South Wales, Dennis Carroll and later the courageous captain Paul Kelly.

What are Adelaide Crows going to get ?
Nothing, like when they hand out money to Kangaroos, Bulldogs etc that doesnt mean they give money to Collingwood and Carlton.
Sojourner wrote:Pretty sure that North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs have also received assistance from the AFL to get long term plans established to make them profitable.

Wakelin stepped down 8 weeks ago. The other three (including the SANFL appointed observer!) resigned as a protest about the way the SANFL have been interfereing with the running of the club. There are two groups here who are in lots of debt. One of them has improved their bottom line by 2.5 million in the last year. Everyone involved, including the SANFL elected observers agree's that Port's board are doing a good job. Port is not the one I am worried about!
