This idea appeals to me. The second AFL team associated with Port will always struggle. Make it totally independant of Port and it will flourish. Maybe the two Adelaide AFL teams could be based on some sort of geographical lines such as north v south or east v west. Scrap footy park and have them both play at a revamped Adelaide Oval with 50-55,000 capacity.
Yeah I heard that and agreed it has some merit, give the Magpies back their oval and heritage and have "Adelaide Power" playing out of Adelaide Oval with their admin there as well.....could work very very well, with a team playing at Adelaide Oval they are likely to get more support from the neutrals that will wonder down there cause of the handy location
Right, so put your hand up as a neutral who would follow the "Adelaide Power" knowing full well it is Port Adelaide renamed?![]()
Yeah,right...

They'd need to lose the Port name, the black and teal, and the coach, before I'd go to a match, let alone consider joining, but lesser changes may work with coming generations if they separated themselves from the link with Port Adelaide and Alberton. However, they may lose some of their older, former Magpie, supporters in the process, and I'm not sure they'd be game to risk that.Dutchy wrote: probably not but I would go to their games if at the Oval and they are more likely to get the next generation supporting them with no reference to Port, doing it all at the same time when they move to the AO would be the go, done correctly they could easily pick up neutrals who go for a look as permanent members/followers

One thing that I dread is that one day Williams will end up as coach of Collingwood. awful thought.

And you think my harmless posts like "Port spin money for the SANFL from AAMI Stadium" are a threat to your world. You ain't seen nothin!

And, as I said before, the existing PAP members will be fully supportive too. They don't really like the Port Adelaide link anyway. It's not the reason they buy memberships

Seriously now ... the only part of it that has legs IMO is playing games at the Adelaide Oval

Was down at Prospect Oval today and had a look at the SANFL Fixture Draft and the Roosters have no byes and dont play Port Magpies.

Yes there's 2 New York's in the NFL. They came from 2 separate national leagues that merged to form the NFL 40 years ago. Jets from the old American Football League and the Giants from the older National Football league.
Don't know much about how the 2 supporter bases interact with each other or which team is more popular though
Jimmy could tell us all about it if he reads this
