Totally agree. I have never seen so much will in one bloke, truly a SUPER grab in the back pocket in the last quarter! Paul Thomas single handedly kept the dogs in it for 3/4 too. Eagles a much more even spread. Better team won on the day.

Congrats to my Eagle mates, commiserations to my Doggie mates, and a big pull ya finger out to my club.

Bring on 2012.

I thought that Port did that. I think that they mean that we have been the the last team to beat them in the GF.

Good chance that the player is someone who wasn't even born when Glenelg last won the premiership...

Or was it one of Glenelg's backmen? Are you watching todays match or a replay of Mark Mickan's last match as coach???

The whole day is a blur for me! Wow!

We started the game where we left off with the Prelim, we attacked the Dogs players the second they took the ball, and bottled things up until we could get a clearance, which seemed to be 4 out of every 5 times. Our stoppage work was brilliant and the key to us being up early.

McKenzie, Raymond and co. were a wall down back, taking umpteen marks at times where they had no claim to. Centrals looked lost in the first half, with most goals coming from pushing and pushing through the defense, since lobbing it on Havelbergs head wasn't working (we did against him in the first half).

Callinan was great at times, but even he had a case of the fumbles, as did a lot of the Dogs players. It was weird to see them dropping the ball with no visible pressure around them, even from a handball. We took the ball out of defense half a dozen times from errors like that.

I don't really remember many times where Centrals hit targets inside 50, apart from dinky little kicks. On the flipside, we pushed in time after time, with Staple and Grocke providing great hands for our running players. We had to really work hard for our goals as well, but when you have Lewis and Tiller hitting goals from outside 50 it helps!

I almost had a heart attack in the last quarter - I never felt safe at all and in the end, there was reason to not to feel safe! So thrilled with the win, especially seeing as we could have easily lost in the dying seconds.

Commiserations to the Centrals team and supporters. No grand final is easy to lose - and I guess from our point of view (our, being every other supporter besides yours) we struggle to feel TOO bad, since you have so many! :)

Terrific game from two terrific clubs. Godden and McKenzie statesmanlike in their speeches both at Footy Park and Woodville tonight. Always proud to be part of this club. In response to one post, it was not relief but jublilation, jubilation, jubilation!

Only saw one (after centrals 1st goal) and I'm pretty sure the owner was promptly removed from the venue.

I dont have the issue you do with this lad, but it's a fair point .. Regulation handball receive and poor fumble at a critical time (although you could probably point out several crucial mistakes for both teams throughout the game)

Amazing, amazing, amazing.

It's hard to know where to start. Central continue to be a truly great club and today reaffirmed that. No one could come back like they did in that last quarter, against the wind and with an already depleted line up. Truly magnificent and to the couple of Dogs supporters that shook our hands at the conclusion of the game, thank you. Showed class. Also, thanks bulldogproud. Hope you're right re the cricket premiership!

It was just jubilation when that siren went. I thought there were still a couple of minutes to go and thought we'd lost it. After trying so hard for so long to win in 2006, could we really snaffle one after finishing 3rd and could we do it first time back after 5 years absent. As an Eagles supporter, don't you have to go through a lot more than that? Can you really win a premiership like that? What an amazing feeling!

McKenzie, Cicolella, Powell, Treeby, Jarrad and Grocke - you go down as two time premiership players. And how deserved. Truly great players of this club.

Godden was magnificent. He had all the moves and his game style held up on the biggest stage. At various stages of the season it didn't look good, but he believed and he was right.

Everything fell in place this year. Central were decimated by injury and we had a great run and most importantly capitalized when we had the chance. Fantastic Eagles! 2011 premiers!!!

Congrats to Treeby, what a great way to go out. Fingers crossed everyone else is back on board next year. Powell I'm a little bit worried about, but please continue! Your last half of the year was as well as you've played and I thought you'd win the Jack Oatey with today's game (but my wallet was glad Parry did).

Right now he is the king of Thebarton and Woodville

Riverland boy, westies league player, Crows listed didn't play due to three knee recos. Westies ressies coach, Bays ressies coach Eagles league coach, Eagles premiership coach.

for the third time today, a ripper bloke.

I too was a bit surprised that a bloke called Powell didn't win the Jack Oatey for the second time in the last decade. He set the tone, and put it all on the line early with some really selfless acts. Great game to watch. Congrats to WWT.

A Glenelg supporter having a go at a Centrals player for fumbling in a final. You'd run out of paper if you had to write down all the Glenelg fumbles during finals over the last few years. You'd be there even longer if you noted all the times Glenelg sh*t themselves in finals.

Just simply, what a great team effort. Everyone did something of substance on the day and for mroe than just a fleeting moment.

After all the great minor round battles over the years, it is great to finally have a GF that lives up to the great battles and respect between these two clubs.

To win when had been written off by a lot of the footy public as going to be boring and one-sided, just fantastic.

Again, tough calls win GF's, like Colville and Shattock in 2006, leaving Gus out was the right decision, however heartbreaking.

Centrals did a great job, through injuries and an unsettled side to be up there again. Boyd was great, and Thomas after half-time. Their great midfield depth almost got them over the line, being able to put Spurr and Sansbury and others through there, geez for us to hold on over that depth is undescribable.

Couple of weeks ago I said I was more confident this year than in 2006, things started to feel as though they were going our way, including finally having a more settled side than our opposition. You could also see the resolve galvanise amongst the players during the South game.

As strange as is sounds, one of the greatest feelings about this is being only the second side to come from losing the Qualifying Final. No logical reason why it should be that hard, but the stats say it to be, so to be able to do it, well it's great our club now has this unique piece of history.
