HARWOOD,SURJAN & NOW WILLITS

Postby bayman » Fri Apr 06, 2007 7:45 pm

these are 3 players that have changed sanfl clubs (harwood twice), i know there is at least one more, (who i think was a crows player) but basically is the common denominator port ??   , perhaps port (chocko) is having or trying to have too much say, we all know chocko coaches/encourages the port players playing at sanfl level during the 1/4 & 3/4 time breaks

firstly, is it that port have or is trying to have too much to say on game day ?
2ndly, & should he or any afl coach be allowed to do that
3rdly, unless i'm wrong we (the sanfl) own port & adel, so we (sanfl) should be telling/dictating to them not the other way around

bayman says that all clubs should tell both teams to field their players elsewhere as it is no good for anyone & if you dont believe me look at centrals over the last few years very little impact from afl players & their unity & success is 2nd to none

& alledgedly boak as well
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Perrie changed clubs as well but I'm not sure if the Crows had anything to do with that, it may have been that Perrie was unhappy? I can't really remember the details now. At least all the Power players aren't ending up at Ethelton.

I think the other guy you are thinking of is Bowen Lockwood,(he had the ability but a major injury cost him).Port wanted centrals to play him in the backline and centrals refused to so the power sent him to the magpies, and surprise surprise he ended up playing up forward for them (go figure), not too many games in the backline. No big loss but would have been handy, probably best game was against north, i think he kicked 10 goals.

Other players to move i think were Perrie (south to north) and Clarke (south to bays),not sure if there are any more.

I dont think we should bar them from the sanfl, but i think there has to be a line drawn between the afl and the sanfl. Before people jump up and down and say they are employed by the afl, they are two different leagues, and two different comps, which makes it unfair for a coach of an afl club to tell an sanfl coach where to play his players. The sanfl coach wants his team to win but the afl coach couldnt give a rats(unless they are a team who shares the same ground).

Willits was similar to Surjan in the fact that Suirjan was dropped after he put in a poor effort against north. The next week he lined up with the magpies.

Interesting that 90 per cent of the majority of these players played stuff all AFL isn't it?
Wonder what that says about the need for them to change SANFL clubs?

excellent point....i guess some could argue that 'they had to go just to see if they could' but the reality is probably that they didnt have the right attitude or just werent good enough, plain and simple!!!

That's not what Eagles supporters were telling us at the time when we were happy for him to go.

I think the way the power seem to get their players to change clubs at the drop of a hat is ridiculous. If those players can't earn a regular spot in the league team, or play in their preferred spots it means there are SANFL players doing a better job than they would. And quite frankly, until they show they are better than other SANFL players they're not up to AFL. I like the way the crows seem to deal with it. They seem to leave their players' on field management in the SANFL to the SANFL coaches and when they can prove themselves ready for the next step they give them AFL opportunities. For instance Jon Griffen would have played more league in the ruck last year with another club than centrals, but they didn't touch him and before the end of the season he forced his way into the team.

Yep, Fos Williams bullied his sons, and from what I have picked up they developed the same habit - they are always right!

Has anyone here read Fos Williams book on child rearing - "The Gap."
