Rd 2 South v Port at the BOT Friday 7.10

Postby DOC » Mon Apr 06, 2015 9:20 am

Port coming off a soft trial win and South having found a way to win at Glenelg.

Ports team Hard to predict. South will have two or three, Rolfe, Redigolo and Ah Chee pressing for selection but may not force any one out yet.

Great opportunity to get a second win.

South by a goal.

As raised on FOOT-e TIMES last week.

The Powers latest injury report below has, right now, 42 or 43 AFL Listed players available for selection.

IF no one gets injured in the next 4 days
and IF Matt Lobbe is right to play
and IF the Power do not hold back a player as an emergency (they play Saturday Night at home v Sydney)
then the Magpies SANFL IGA League side against the Panthers on Friday Night would have 0 contracted Magpies players involved.

Stay Tuned.

Port Adelaide AFL injury list (as of Monday 6 April)

Andrew Moore – hamstring (available)
Matt Lobbe – quad tightness (assess)
Mason Shaw – groin (1 week)
Billy Frampton – shins (5-6 weeks)*

Presumably Summerton is skipper and would play? I'd also imagine they would hold a player back as an emergency.

But yes, it highlights the lottery that is playing the reserves team. The last time South played the power in the 2014 home and away season, only about 1/2 their side were AFL listed and South won comfortably, a stark contrast to the power team that belted south at Alberton earlier in the season.

Will probably head along as I couldn't make last week's game, but it's hard to take it all too seriously unfortunately.

You'd think at the very least Butcher will be held back as Lobbe is in doubt and will take until Friday to show his fitness. Summo will play. I'd be surprised if at least one other wasn't held back as emergency

Im waiting for the day the Crows have no injuries and they will have surplus players after filling 2 teams, where do the extras play? Watch the SANFL let them have extra on the bench...

South

South Adelaide coach Brad Gotch has recognised the form of Peter Rolfe and Roland Ah Chee ahead of the blockbuster against Port Adelaide at Hickinbotham Oval on Friday night.
The skilful Panthers have been named on the extended interchange bench to tackle the Magpies with Rolfe the more likely of the pair to survive the final cut.
The left-footed Rolfe, who collected 21 disposals, seven marks, nine inside 50s and five tackles in the Reserves last week, presents as a viable attacking threat against last year’s minor premier.
Ah Chee, who has battled for a regular league match since arriving at Noarlunga, racked up 25 disposals against the Tigers’ reserves on Good Friday.
