SA COMMUNITY FOOTBALL BOARD ELECTED

The SA Community Football League, tasked with overseeing football underneath the SANFL competition, is pleased to announce the newly elected directors to its board after undertaking a governance restructure.

The governance review resulted in the inclusion of two Advisory Councils, one for the metropolitan leagues and the other for regional leagues. From these Councils, two members are nominated to the SACFL Board.

Existing Directors

David Shipway – SA Football Commissioner and SACFL Chairman
The Hon Rob Kerin – Deputy Chairman
Peter Lindner – Independent Director
Jeff Burchell – Independent Director

New Directors
Trevor Holst – Metropolitan Advisory Council Member
Shaun Ryan – Metropolitan Advisory Council Member
Scott Duncan – Regional Football Advisory Council Member
Graeme Wandel – Regional Football Advisory Council Member

In addition to these Advisory Council elected representatives, two Independent Directors were elected by the SACFL Board with the approval of the SA Football Commission.
The Hon Michael Wright – Independent Director – Michael was the South Australian government minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing from 2002-2011 and not only brings with him a wealth of knowledge in football but more broadly sport in South Australia. He also played regional football in Kadina.
Ms Robbi Tims – Independent Director – Robbi is the first female director elected to the SACFL Board. Robbi has been involved in regional tourism, events and marketing, all areas which will support the SACFL management team.
‘’The SACFL is a critical part of football in South Australia, and the newly appointed Directors have exceptional knowledge in various areas all suitable to the needs of the football pathways,’’ SACFL Chairman David Shipway said.
‘’For the past six years, we have been focused on supporting our Affiliated Leagues which include the SA Amateur League, SA Women’s Football League, four Junior District Leagues and 25 Regional/Country Leagues. These leagues provide pathways for kids wishing to take up football.
‘’The inclusion of six new directors with varied skills and experience adds significant benefit to the vision we have created. That vision includes the provision of resources and support to leagues and clubs so they are healthy, vibrant and the premier sporting organisations in their communities.”
