Breathtaking.

Not all clubs, Einstein. Mine made a motza last year, and has done so consistently. You know that the surprise is this target thing which has come out of seemingly nowhere.

Better troll next time. Mind you, you've had a bit of practice by now with minimal improvement.

Embarrassing.

Posting under a new name is cute though.

Should just cut the nonsense and use a symbol like Prince did.

Port Power would struggle to make $100k profit. If how this is being proposed on here is correct it's ridiculous and I can only think it's set for teams to fail thus opening the doors to put forward an argument for the AFL to take over. The figure is an interesting one and if Power did have to pay $50k to each club like Adelaide, then that would effectively be the $100k, but they don't, which is ridiculous in itself.
On a similar topic, does anyone know how the licences are being repaid and over what period? I seem to remember it being paid back in the form of grants over 10-15 years but I could be wrong but for arguments sake let's say this is true, how is this differentiated from the development funding that all clubs get now whether they have players drafted or not?

Here is an article on the $100000 surplus. No points will be deducted or money taken away from football development, but looks like the SANFL will get to control your budget if you can't make the money.

Could you please cut and paste the article text?

SANFL clubs must budget for at least $100,000 profit each year and not fall into losses under strict new fiscal rules to control concerning club debt in the state league.

But the SANFL will not — as European football leagues do — penalise financially troubled clubs with the loss of premiership points.

Rather, the league will demand — and assist with — changes in the club’s spending or revenue sourcing.

SANFL chief executive Jake Parkinson calls the “$100,000 rule” a “risk buffer” to bring an end to the debt cycle in SA league football.

Ultimately, the new fiscal demands will stop SANFL clubs building up seven-figure debts before rushing to the SA Football Commission seeking bailout funds.

“We can’t have one or two clubs reaching a point from where there is no return,” Parkinson told The Advertiser. “That $100,000 cash surplus in the budget allows for a risk buffer.

“We will not be taking away points to enforce the policy. And we will not be holding back league — or game development — funding from the clubs, as that would be self-defeating.

“But we will demand the clubs change. First, we will ask the clubs to look at increasing revenue. If the losses continue, we will ask for new control to their football spend after benchmarking their spending against the league average.

“And if there is no change after this, the league will have to mandate restructuring of the club’s budgets.”

Parkinson added it should be the responsibility of SANFL club boards — and the expectation of club members — that their clubs start each season with the intent to make a profit.

SANFL clubs will not be able to use their cut of the AAMI Stadium sale to make up the $100,000 cash surplus expected by the league in their annual budgets.

The “$100,000 rule” this week had its first fallout at an SANFL club with Woodville-West Torrens changing its administration — and making chief executive Peter Schwarz redundant from next Friday. His exit is said to be linked to political unease at Oval Ave.

The Eagles will follow the successful Sturt model of having its club administration led by two executives — a commercial chief and a football boss.

“This new organisational structure will enable (the club) to achieve financial viability and meet the SANFL’s financial performance requirement,” the Eagles say in a club statement. “It (also) will be one that will provide sufficient resources to the football department to ensure their continued competitiveness and success on field.”

"In addition, the South Australian National Football League has required that all Clubs achieve a cash surplus of $100,000 each year, starting from 2016. This cash surplus must be achieved by all Clubs, excluding any funds distributed from the sale of AAMI stadium. "

I like the fact that it seems so easy from the SANFLs point of view.

Just make a $100k.

Easy as that apparently. ......

Meanwhile AFL clubs are leaking millions every year.
So both AFL teams don't have to abide by a salary cap, don't have to abide to the new $100k surplus and there's a push for them not to have to abide by the SANFL tribunal. Referencing the recent "contact with an umpire" suspensions.
What's more we have to abide AFL imposed rule changes that make a mockery of the game.
Seriously over this shit.

no they wont. surely we can all see it is very simple. all that has to happen is " First, we will ask the clubs to look at increasing revenue". its so simple that i wonder why the sanfl clubs havent thought of it already? i mean, surely someone there would have been smart enough to suggest it already?

maybe if the sanfl clubs are run by such stupid administration that they havent already thought of "increasing revenue" (and because it is so easy to do, its only 2 words after all) they should have the sanfl step in and tell them how to run their business

Yes, you're right. The SANFL are far, far too busy kissing the ar$ecrack of the two AFL clubs to do anything else. John Olsen's lips certainly have seen better days (although the words that pass through them haven't).

Good idea. Make sure it's a deep shade of brown to provide a good match, otherwise it will show.

So club X makes $100k profit as mandated by the SANFL so it ticks that box....but has debts that require a $300k annual commitment, they are still going backwards $200k per annum which needs to come from somewhere, which could be cash reserves, asset sale or even more debt.

So how does that benefit anyone?

I wonder if all clubs have to submit monthly financial reports to the SANFL? Would be a lot more difficult to fudge the numbers if that was the case.

SACA ask all their clubs to submit monthly reports as a condition to receive their yearly funding
