Its a simple rule though and all players know the direction the unmpires will exit the contest. if they chose to stand there and make contact they run the risk of a penalty. Not saying it's right but its simple really... DONT F*KING STAND THERE

I noticed one of the players ran into Chelsea Roffey (sp?) on the weekend en route to kicking the ball in and wondered at the time if it would be ok to make contact with a goal umpire? Not sure if anyone was cited.

Ooh ooh, pick me! I'll "run into" her!! Ooh ooh...pick me...pick me!!

How big is it Chelsea?

There lies the problem. Common sense would dictate the umpire stands boundary side and backs back towards the boundary, that would give the umpire the best view of the play and also allow them to exit harms way

I'd say common sense ( which, in all reality, isn't so common ) would be to bring the ball 5-10 metres in board to avoid the inevitable scramble and out of bounds / ball in etc.

Along with the umpire going to the boundary side, yes.

I see Frawley wants $800 - $900k as a free agent to leave Melbourne. Will anyone seriously pay that?

Reeks of the famously terrible Darren Gaspar contract....

Not saying he is worth it, but a few clubs have cap space and could get in a bidding war (freo and gws are two previously mentioned)

Carlile - 26. vs Frawley - 25.

With Clurey ( 193cm 20 years old ) Homsch (192/21 ),Trengove ( 197/23 ) and Jonas ( 188/23 ) we are ok for key defenders for the next 3-5. We may want to add another to that list, but it would be via the draft not through spending $7-800k on Spud Frawley, thats for sure.

Might find Hartigan could assure himself of that spot by seasons end. Could see the crows considering it though as he is an SA boy right?

Frawly is a good defender. But only a good defender. If your going to spend 800k only a player, then christ imagine who you could chase. You could look at chasing guys like Wines (although just signed), Trelor etc.

I think people are missing the point with FA, his worth is not a reflection on his market value it is just what it would cost to make him move clubs. Dont think anyone thinks Frawley is worth 800k, probably 550-600k at best on the open market but it will take 800k to get him under FA
