Well, on careful reading, another vote for research into compounds contained in Cannabis, not necessarily for open slather for commercial interests.

I enjoyed my once only small taste of "Coke" some years ago in Sarawak, and felt energised, but I wouldn't advocate an open go for its marketing.
(Unless of course I had the sole franchise... ;) )

Commercial interests? We are talking about medical cannabis.

Legal or not, makes no difference. I still get it, and tax free. This is the point you are missing Psyber.

By commercial interests I was thinking of those who stand to benefit more by its production and legal sale - growers, distributors and retailers. Their income is going to be greater if you can also get the psychotropic effect from the legally available product. (A selected component or synthetic without the psychotropic effect would contribute less to this.)

Controlled growing and distribution won't work any better than it does now and policing of illegitimate distribution will get harder when some is legal and some isn't. (The police don't even want THC free variants to be legalised as fodder crops or rope fibre because that will make their role more difficult.)

Another issue is that most GPs I know would not want to be inundated by those seeking legal prescriptions for MJ. A lot of them already don't like being badgered for benzo prescriptions and some put up signs at the counter saying they don't prescribe benzos for anyone to discourage benzo abusers coming to them.

you do realise that above the list of illnesses they actually say that cannabis is used to treat symptoms caused by other medical treatment.

do you drink alcohol at all? regardless of how much...

or do you take the moral high ground and only smoke weed because it does less damage?
