Get used to it.
No one said that Smithfield think they are the best in the comp, you guys can be humble and quiet and respectful about how you go about it, but at the end of the day to the greater footballing community they view you (Smithfield) as the team to beat.

Having watching Smithfield last season, I thought they were amongst the best sides in the division then and were the biggest threat to Ingle Farm.
This season same div minus Ingle Farm & Angle Vale and have recruited some very capable 'ins' they are going to be a lot stronger.
As for people jumping on here and saying stuff, you'll never win - someone will always sling shit about something unfortunately.

Or a massive incident, possibly involving someone being physically choked, that is the straw that breaks the camels back
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Well I for one hope that doesn't happen and Smithfield can get through this season and have success.

Don't think it's fair that people continue to drag up last year, clearly they have done the time and have moved forward looking to rebuild and grow, give them a chance FFS..

A strong schmiffies can only be good for the comp

Secondly, there's always a few changes around the semester break but Smithfield were too good on the day with a strong midfield and forward line with a variety of avenues to goal. They also played the intimidation card on the much younger Uni players which perhaps mightn't work later in the season or against other sides. I'd be very surprised though if Smithfield weren't playing deep in the finals.

Intimidation card? Went in hard?

Nope, things like a couple of judicious late bumps, constant bumping/elbows from Smithfield forwards when the ball was at the other end and ensuring what used to be known as making them earn it.
Nothing that could be considered reportable but guaranteed to let sides know that they'll feel sore the next day.

Cool story!

if the umpire is not paying free kicks they are not late bumps and if they are paying free kicks then whats the problem the bumping and elbows doesnt matter what grade you are you recieve that my friend i suggest growing a pair and doing the same back

Happens every year, someone has to be labelled the bench mark, and lucky for smithfield it is them this year. I know id rather be touted the best, than not, makes teams wary of you. Hasn't been something said about smithfield for sometime, has to be a good thing for the club surely, gets the place buzzing, draws people back to the club, "Cha-Ching, Cha-Ching"
