4th highest home crowd in the entire AFL for this season is an even better achievement. that would have to be more like a 50% increase or more?

Brilliant performance by Port tonight. Can they do it with actual pressure next week?

Phenomenal crowd, largest in SA AFL history did they say? Congrats to Port and everyone involved.

yep, all time record for AFL in SA, and the second time they had over 52k, there was 52233 at the Hawthorn game.

the crows highest is 50552 against port, and 50459 against richmond.

both crows and power now have four 50k+ crowds at adelaide oval this year.

crows have the highest home crowd in the AFL, with port 4th. (collingwood likely to retake top spot as they have hawthorn this week)

massive achievement by both clubs. hopefully it continues

Very impressive tonight albeit against poor opposition still can only place who fronts up. What I was most pleased with was the likes of Polac, Wingard, Neade, Westhoff, Schultz and Pittard yes Pittard were all good who have all been done for quite some time.

Robby Grey outstanding again, Travis Boak refuses to play a bad game 1 touch at 1/4 time ends with 27 gee he worked his ass off, 2 underrated blokes tonight as it was such a big win were Cornes on Murphy was very good then got nearly 30 when Murph went off and Hombsh looks so much better as the 3rd defender and as I said Wingard, Polec, Pittard and Jonas all pretty good games.

From the outset the run and spread were back, Carlton had 4-5 blokes with hands on knees blowing hard at 1/4 time that for me was a sign we were on. It's what we did in the first 12 rounds and it seemed back tonight.

Hopefully White's Groin is ok as well as The Hoffs knee.

Freo over there WIN and we'll have Sydney at ANZ lose we'll more than likely host West Coast. On what I seen tonight I believe were a chance albeit we'll be up against far better opposition.
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

yep though hombsch as the floating intercept defender was great, and pittard's ball use was also very good. bodes well for next week against freo, they can get a double chance here

We weren't talking about them... They don't deserve them either. But we all know it's all about the ratings, hence why those teams get them (except Adelaide, who has only had 1 this year)

Sadly, Dubya is correct. Ratings define Friday Night Footy (it is understandable, as much as it sh*ts me).

Adelaide fans have shown that, if both Port and the Crows are given Friday night time slots, we will turn up in droves.

With Port hopefully making the 2nd week of September, and Adelaide a chance to make the 8- Friday Night Footy at Adelaide Oval may be given more exposure. Hopefully, both Port and the Crows get 2 games each next season.

One of the blokes on Fox Footy was bang on right about Pittard last night.

I know he is much maligned among many Port supporters, but imho it's because he has the most difficult role, the one that involves the most risk .. He has the responsibility for taking the risk kicks, that can make or break a play for Port.

In a team with plenty of stars it's often easy to make him the fall guy, but when he's on he creates so much .. When he's off, the turnovers can come out, but thats the style of play his coach wants.

Reckon he is undervalued by many.

The Hoff sleeps better these days.

Jasper, Kane Mitchell and John Butcher set off Port supporters like pretty much nothing else.

Especially Butch. Seen some good barney's between Pro-Butch and Anti-Butch Port supporters. Very passionate, circular arguments.

Huge fan of Pittard. Really tightened up this year. And he provides so much run and drive off half-back.

There was a great bit of pre-game footage from earlier in the season where Hinkley is speaking to Pittard and says something like he can handle all the other stuff (brain-fades!) so long as he's defending hard.

Been in great form during the club's recent slump...

Hopefully they do more Thursday night games next year. Definitely scope for expanding that, it is much better than Mondays.

Bang on JK.

IMO- the reason port's back 6, in particular, Pittard, looked so good last night is because of Trengove.

When Jacko is in our side. It frees up Hombsch and Jonas to do the intercept marking/spoiling, leaving O'Shea, Broadbent and Pittard to be offensive linkmen. You cant match up on all 3 of those.

As soon as Jonas and Hombsch have to play accountable roles on a key forward, we lose a link up. Brogs often gets a tag, leaving Pittard the only ball user out of the back 6- causes him to make turnovers constantly trying to generate offensive movement, as well as defend. When we are able to use all 3, Jasper can pick his time to go, thus leaving his skills sharper over the course of the match due to lack of fatigue.

He was brilliant last night- but nobody dare underestimate the importance of Trengove. People say Lobbe is our most important player? Yeah, only because of our injury depletion in that area. Jacko is our most important player as far as structure, by a long way.

Now the equation is simple....

Beat Freo next week
Beat Sydney the week after at ANZ
Home Prelim at the Portress
Beat whoever meets us at the G in the last Saturday of September 8)
The PNU Falcs 2005,06,13 x 2,14 and Div 1 Premiers in 2019......The SA 3peat - 2003,04,05

If you're one of the vestal virgins in the Pure Blonde ad then maybe, but more likely to lose to Freo and out in the 1st week to end 7th.

Robbie Gray, his clearance work this year has become elite, he is as good as anybody in a contest either in the middle or around the ground.

Not bad for a bloke who is second for marks inside 50 at his club, with over 30 goals too.

In my biased opinion he is, on form right now, the best player in the competition.
