Oysters?

Who likes em?
Which way? (Kilpatrick, Natural, Mornay etc)
Where are your favourites?

Mates and I think the best Kilpatrick we've found in Adelaide are at the Grange Hotel, not that I've tried the Oysters from a heap of places, but theirs are sensational!

Always used to stop at Cowell and grab a heap when out on the West Coast.

Natural - Must be fresh, like they were in the water when I sat down in the dining room.

Kilpatrick - Never really taken to them cooked.

Natural.

Beautiful to eat any way they come. I buy them regularly from Caputo's in Port Pirie and they are fresh from Coffin Bay which are probably the best you can get. We generally guts them down fresh with a squeeze of lemon or garnish them with finely chopped bacon, chives, parsley and Worcester sauce and stick under the griller for a few minutes.

Whats the "Fine Foods" place on the highway SP? Grabbed some pickled mussels and crabs on my way back from Quorn a few weeks back. The mussels were simply awesome on a homemade pizza.

You mean the joint on the left (going south) on Highway One between Weroona Island and Port Pirie?

Kilpatrick for me. Quite often grab a serve as an entree dish when out for tea.

Yeah, thats the one.

Booney That place is called Harry's and they do sell some good stuff. Pickled crab is to die for if you can afford the $20 per jar. It used to specialise in locally grown fruit and veg and I think it still does.

Crab is now $25 a jar. Collecting on a couple of trebles the day before didn't hurt. ;)

My inlaws are oyster farmers at Smoky Bay.

I have access to as many free oysters as I can eat.

Pity I can't stand eating the disgusting slime ball pieces of snot!

Love em.

Doing an EP road trip with the wife and little girl in October, and thinking of stopping in at the Oysterfest at Ceduna, before going to streaky and having another crack at the oysters at Coffin Bay.

Anyone been to the Oysterfest?
