Not only has she been head and shoulders above all the other women in the first 3 years of the AFLW she's set a standard for all aspiring young female footballers to reach for and that can only be good for the code going forward. She's proven to be a quality leader, humble in her acceptance speeches and a role model for all young girls to look up to.

Congratulations must go her way.

Add to all that her basketball achievements, she really is an outstanding athlete.

She is an excellent/the best female footballer to have played so far by far.

But listening to the radio on the way home last night people where saying she is capable of playing against the blokes. I don’t think so!

I think the great thing about Erin, is that despite being the best footballer, I think she's more respected for the person she is and the way she conducts herself. She's not only a great role model for young women out there, but should be considered a role model for all people regardless of their gender. Quality human from a quality family.

Watching her at school lunch dominate against the boys in her year level I always wondered how good she might've been had women be allowed to play footy. I heard she was devastated when she finally got pulled out of boys footy and then switched to basketball and had a great career.

I'm just so rapt for that little tomboy at school that she finally got to play footy as an adult like we all take for granted, she as expected has dominated even against young women a decade her junior and despite all her success has carried herself with such dignity and class.

Even though I'm a Crows man mainly, I would love to see this happen as the Phillips name belongs in a Port jumper. Would be great having a father/ daughter rule

Don’t the Magpies have a team already playing locally?

We've put our hat in the ring for the next round of AFLW licences. Gold Coast, Richmond, St Kilda, West Coast come in in 2020 making it 14 teams.

Essendon, Hawthorn, Port and Sydney will be the only clubs without an AFLW side at that time.

Rucci said yesterday that Port would be the last AFL club to get a women’s team

Port being the last to get a license could work in their favour - the amazing start and success the Crows have achieved in the opening 3 years has young girls and ladies everywhere feeling more comfortable and willing to have a crack.

By the time Port get a license, SA should have enough home grown talent developed and coming through the ranks to be able to support two sides with success.

They’ll have a draft system in place by then.

Port have had a team in the now defunct SAWFL for some years, they had to real affiliation to the SANFL or AFL Port Adelaide though and played out of Port Reserve.

They have been a bit of a shambles at times and other times been well ran.

The next PAFC womens team will come out of SMOSH, all the Port Adelaide folk with their heads screwed on correctly have gone out there and they will end up being a feeder club for Port once they get the go ahead for AFLW.

FWIW, Port's junior girls structure is ahead of the Crow's at the moment, quite possibly just luck due to zoning as the Crow's girls trainings and schedule is very well structured, infact on and off the field is first class in every aspect.

Cheers.

My original post was more to do with Erin’s dad playing for the Magpies and not the Power. ;)
