Hearing rumour Sturt captain James Battersby spewing cant get back into team and will leave next year if Mattner still coach. Came back for one game and had over 20 possessions but was then dropped and cant get back into team.
Tough one as the team is flying, mid field of Snelling, Lewis, Anderson, Emmett just on fire. Hard to change winning combo. Nice back up to have if get any injuries.
Was it 2002 when Sturt left out their captain Chris Threadgold and that was controversial at the time but they went on and won the flag? Maybe dejavu

Mattner will almost certainly be coach again next year. Battersby may well retire with or without one more flag. I'm not sure he gets back in, but it would be tempting to play him in a final, a very tough call.

Strange fortnight. Sturt couldn’t beat a Crowserves side today that lost to Centrals last week. Centrals today wouldn’t have beaten the Sacred Heart thirds…

Did Sturt rest players or was it a case of not risking injuries leading up to the finals?

Rested 2 players wouldn’t say we went all out yesterday obviously didn’t want any injuries.

Seeing the Crows are sitting third and assuming both Port and Crows have the same SANFL concessions he has no show... but he'll try.

Congrats to Sturt for winning this year’s Stanley H. Lewis Trophy.
As an aside, somewhat interesting that the women's and men's league are both weighted at 100 points per win, but Sturt would have still won it this year, regardless of how they were weighted.
