Re: Great Southern Cricket Association 2009-10
The 20/20 competition was a great success. The concept is great, a day out with a great bunch of lads, playing cricket at a reasonably good level, however very enjoyable due to the light hearted nature of the competition. Port Elliot put a very good show with a great vibe at the club, music pumping in between overs and wickets, just a really enjoyable day. For future competitions, from what i've heard about the other grounds, it could maybe a bit better organised, but from what i saw at port elliot just a great show. Question must be asked about Goolwa putting 2 teams in, considering neither team made it past the first game. Having said that, the Goolwa b's showed a very spirited effort, lead by the two young captains. The future of the club looks bright, if the can clean up some other issues around the club.

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association 2009-10
Good call bev lad, the competition was fun and at times exciting with some close finishes. 20/20 brings out some spectacular plays with the bat and with the ball. Seen a massive catch, unbelievable direct hit runouts and some big hitting.
Just like to say well done to the Bays, definately deserved the win posting 142 & 143 in both games on Sunday. IMO best team on the day.
Also well done to Eliot's for there effort with that magnificent oval and the way they created a carnival atmosphere. Pt Eliot are an asset to the GSCA for sure.
And also well done to Probes & Tony Eden for opening up Victor Oval and clubrooms at such short notice Sunday morning to keep the competition going. Word was that Tony was still lying in bed when he recieved the distress call. If he was 30 years younger he might have taken an extra 15 minutes for that Sunday Morning Glory.

Can anyone confirm if Compass Gold have nominated the 6 players yet & if so who were they. Surely it's not ment to be a big secret is it.
Also i was told that come finals Compass can pick anyone they want to play. So that would mean that Binnsy/Bartschy/Smithy who has played Maroons all year could front for Golds.

That cant be right... surely they would need to qualify, therefore play 8 days of cricket for compass gold, to play finals for compass gold.

The 20/20 comp was a huge success. Although we didnt make the final everyone had a great time in the two games we played. Hopefully it will be even bigger next year with all clubs involved. Well done to enc bay on winning.

The way the Gold's are playing at the moment you guys don't have anything to worry about!! They've got to make the finals first!!

from what i saw in the 20/20 gf Rob martin critics can be silenced
3 for and a top score with 20 n.o with the bat! could see him lead the gold team back to the a resurgence and make the top 4!

Reckon i seen Chopper & Bob Martin tearing up when Marto was punishing the ball through covers with consecutive boundries. Not sure if Chopper dropped his pie with sauce or if they were watching a special moment out on the field.
Good allround effort by the Paddle Pop Lion jnr.
I guess the Bays batsmen just simply couldn't see Marto when he was bowling.

I think youve left some other quality names of there with the likes of J.Crosby a standout bowler, P.Zimmermann with his great batting and outstanding catching in gully

Re: Great Southern Cricket Association 2009-10
So where back to the real cricket this weekend and there are some massive games! Let see if we can predict a few winners!!!
Aldinga v Port Elliot - Top of the table clash, winner will kick away from the rest of the comp, will be atleast a game and a half clear of 2nd. Aldinga too strong imo
McLaren Districts v Mount Compass Gold - Massive game for both sides to keep in touch with the 4, Compass Gold lose this and thats just bout their season goodbye. Game could go either way, both sides rely a lot on their captains to perform, and if either connor or ifould can make a big score then that could be the difference. Compass to win in the last over of the day.
Mount Compass Maroon v Encounter Bay - Enc Bay playing some really good cricket atm and should knock Maroons off quite easily.
Willunga v Goolwa - Massive game for both sides, Willunga need to win to stay in the top 4, Goolwa need to win or their season will be just about over. Both sides coming off losses will want to start 2010 with a Win! If Goolwa play to their potential then should be a very close game, all depends which goolwa rock up to play! Of course i'll pick Willunga to win, should be a tough, close game tho!

Aldinga will be too strong for Elliot
McLaren over Golds
Bays over Maroons easily
Goolwa over Willunga
Some great games this weekend, look forward to hearing who takes the points come 7pm Saturday!

the only thing we couldnt see was the ball after it was hit. 3 for plenty. bowled absolute rubbish. and its easy to come in at 9-90 and slog 20 when you have no chance of winning and the opposition has lost interest cause the game is over.

If i recall Cam Lintern hit Martin for two 4's and 6 the over after he droppd him. Although he did get their best batsman out, Ryan edwards, and also some hack called Beavridge but you can hardly class him as a batsman. Maybe Martin and Jason Parry should make a shit fielders club.

cam lintern could really hit anyone for six if he wanted to. ryan edwards hit to most technical perfect straight drives one for six and one for four of mark nash i had a good view from fine leg.
