This is pure positioning from Wines, I heard an interview last week where he was positive about re-signing at Port, I suggest his manager then called him and advised he has to play hard to get in the media, hence the correction today which has maybe gone too far the other way.

This would be absolutely 100% what has happened.
He will also only sign for 2 years, his manager wouldnt be doing his job if he let him sign for anymore. He will be in huge demand in 2 years and have that extra bargaining power of leaving for compensation which also helps Port if he does decide to go home.

Or signs for 3 years, then gives Port the option to trade him after 2 and get something for him.

I think most see Ollie as the heir apparent to Boak. As early as next year is a real possibility.

Most clubs vote in their captain and leadership group, so Wines is obviously held in high regard by his peers.

I think he is a super player and a very important part of our team, but match winner wouldn't be a word id use to describe him.

In fact, there are max 10 players in the league that can command that title.

He may come across as that, but as I said, he is more often right than wrong, which perhaps means that he does know-it-all, or perhaps, knows-a-hell-of-a-lot-more-than-most.

He often has negative things to say about the Crows, which gets him off side with a huge population of the Adelaide population that don't want to hear the hard truths.

That, and he doesn't cow-tow to populism.
