One correction/addition .. 2012 - Won Div 4 GF versus Scotch. St Mary's Park. Last A Grade Premiership. About the same size as Thebby if not bigger and won away at big grounds through the year so I have no idea why a flag is so elusive.

Well done to The Raggies tho.. couldn't take anything off them. Couple of early injuries (eg Simon Munn in the first 10 minutes) didn't help our cause but there was no doubt about which team was best on the day. Congratulations to all those out at Athelstone on the flag.

Overall, I take solace that getting into 4 A Grade GF's in 7 years is no mean feat and rising from Div 4 to Div 1 (then Div 2 and now Div 1 again) has not been by chance but by a lot of hard work. No doubt an extra flag or two would have been sweeter but hey.. if losing a GF is the worst bit of your life you're doing OK. It's all about perspective

Yeh well said. Some people never get to win one let alone play in one so too make it into 4 grand finals in 8 years is pretty impressive whilst rising through the ranks from Div 4 - Div 1. It’s never easy to lose a div 2 flag and compete for top 5 the following year. Brighton were in it til the last couple rounds this years. All the best to Unley moving forward though. Always been a very competitive outfit

I always say making the GF is a great achievement for the club as you are rewarded by promotion.
A premiership is fantastic but it’s the icing on the cake.
All in all, and been talking with some UMJ people for the past 2 years; they are better prepared this time.

You dont really know the sheer size of thebby until you play out there. On one particular angle from south west back pocket to eastern wing just that distance seems the length of a whole footy field and on a warm september day the warm sun doesnt help the already unexpected exhaustion

Ive played on unley and its more like a junior primary school ground compared to thebby

Scotch oval aint much different so that 2012 gf may have been a battle of the mini oval clubs

The raggies u could say were still fuming from their 2017 gf loss to henley and were hungry for one better

However unley too should be driven from recent losses at thebby

Maybe the coaches dont stick to season weekly routines didnt keep it chilled and instead filled the boys heads with too much dribble in grand final week that they arrived to the game heavy headed? Happens a lot with rookie coaches but am only speculating now

I dont really know unley fc but from a far you get the feeling they dunno themselves if theyre a district club or scholars club. Could use a new oval with an adjacent permanent clubroom?
