Re: Adelaide Turf Cricket
Heard he was playing A Grade District in Melbourne when he played with Essendon.
Apparently had the Boys junping around in the nets that faced him and looked a solid proposition with the bat.
From my sources he apparently was looking in reasonably good shape and isn't enjoying the off season too much.

Re: Adelaide Turf Cricket
LOL,he trained with us about 4 weeks ago, just before the season began.Got picked for the first game and then rang at 12:00 on Saturday and said he 'had to work'.
If you want to know how good he really is,just ask him.

Re: Adelaide Turf Cricket
Apparently seems really keen as he is looking to make the A Grade for a clash against a work colleague later in the season. Apparently seems pretty fair dinkum from what I have heard.
I think the attraction to Brighton is he works at Marion and lives 5 minutes from the oval.
Will be interesting though if he stuffed you guys around Booney. Will be interesting to see if he has as much good luck as Brendan Lade did after spending a season at Brighton. Two broken legs in two years.

Re: Adelaide Turf Cricket
Seems there is a big lack of interest for the Association side this year as there was only 7 players out to training the other week between the Open and U/21 side?
Why would players not be interested in the honour of representing there Association?
Apart from the fact you are not invited out any more they just put a msg on the website asking for all A1-A3 players to try out which seems to devalue it a little in my opinion.

Yeah, would have to agree with you there - a letter of invitation would help to make it i bit more prestigious - even if it was the coaches of each club that put forward a few names each. I really stuggle to see how a hit or 2 in the indoor nets can really help a coach decide on the best XI from the ATCA, you cannot get any indication of form in the Adelaide Oval indoor nets - shit, even i can bowl a half decent bouncer on them.......

That last line Shark Hunter I think is taking things a little bit too far. You'll still probably get me out though mate.

Batsmen currently firing with 3 different players making tons and the bowlers standing up so far... There is a long way to go, but getting wins on the board early is always important to set the season up.
They are a dangerous side no doubt, and ahve a lot of talent with te bat. Mosey, Heeps, Undies etc are very good players and it looks like some other blokes stepped up for them last game. Bowling was always one of their weaker points, but Gaerthy etc are always a challenge. Will be up there amongst it I feel. Is a long season however.
We Also have a spinner out there this season called Mojo, has played international cricket for Kenya and is still relatively young, he also made a century (about 118) the other week.

Re: Adelaide Turf Cricket
I have on good authority the Cupido also took 2/30 odd off of 8 overs before going out and bringing the win home before some fireworks to bring up his hundred.
You would think a good all round effort would see him up to the A's next game.

Re: Adelaide Turf Cricket
I think the most amazing part about this result is ........
The SAME two teams played the week before AND
ELDERS WON BY 100 RUNS
and the saviour for elders in this game BENNETT, got a duck the week before.
