Australia 92 (Landale 20, Mills 19, Giddey 17, Daniels 13, McVeigh 13) def Spain 80 (Aldama 27, Llull 17, W. Hernangomez 14)
That was a fantastic win and I still think we can improve. The connection between Giddey and Landale was superb

It was a very good win to finally beat them after the heartbreak against them at the 2016 Olympics and 2019 WC too. Giddey and Landale looked very impressive but Magnay looked out at sea. I was a bit surprised Goorj couldn't find any minutes for Reath.

Matildas game was crazy and was fantastic seeing Jess Fox win gold in the K1.
Japan just pipping us by 1 bronze on the medal tally.

Matilda's game was crazy.
6-5 means they stay alive.
Going 1 down in 40 seconds wasn't expected.

Tubby on channel 9 commentatary makes you feel somewhat safe doesn't it? Haha. I loved his comment during the diving the other night, 'alot of pressure on the Germans here', still got the cricket sledging type comments in his toolkit.

I was ready to jump in and belt his cocky little prick of an opponent.

Thanks for that. There must be some camera equipment down there as well for the shots they have.

It is interesting that the male boxers do not wear headgear (since 2016) as a recognised global study by the Global Sport Institute concluded that boxers who competed without headgear were less likely to concussions than those who wore them.

So why do the women box with headgear?

The rational is that the study was only done on men.

So no study possible in the last ten years?

Helmets help to prevent cuts that's about it.
They might stop you from fracturing your skull if you fell over and that's about it.
Wearing a helmet presents a bigger target to.

Maybe the women still wear them to stop their pretty faces getting all cut up.

I'd imagine the extra weight of the helmets would cause more concussions and/or make them more severe so it does seem weird the girls still wear them.

My wife was mortified that 14yo kids didn’t require helmets for skateboarding. A couple of the girls hit their heads on the concrete pretty hard

Zero protection on elbows and knees either.

Reasonable effort by the Boomers, just a few too many turnovers and dry spells on offence. SGA and Barrett the best 2 players on the floor. Would like to see Reath get an opportunity.
